A perspective review of applications of the computed tomography (CT) scan imaging technique for microscopic reservoir rock characterization

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
In this review, the application of micro‐CT and medical‐CT scanning in the oil and gas industry has been thoroughly discussed. Recent improvements in DRP and modern imaging techniques in the oil and gas industry have been modeled using both experimental and simulation work.

Corrosion effect of hydrochloric acid on the granite: Insights from electrical conductivity, mineral composition, and tensile behavior

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The evolution of electrical conductivity, mineral composition, and tensile behavior such as peak strength, average stiffness, and the energy evolution of the granite specimen under different HCl conditions are studied, analyzed as well as quantified, and investigated, respectively.

Investigation of the stable and unstable states of seismographs using poles and zeros pattern

open access: yesHeliyon, 2018
In this study, a simple Simulink model was designed and presented which can describe the overall operation of seismograph based on the desired input and output response.By converting Laplace to seismograph equations and by defining Numerator and ...

Experimental study on dynamic behavior analysis of coal and its acoustic emission response characteristics under impact failure

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Based on acoustic emission response characteristics, it can be more accurate to identify the damage evolution process of coal under the combined dynamic and static loads, reveal the moment corresponding to coal damage, and identify the characteristics of coal failure. The research results are conducive to the further use of acoustic emission monitoring

Heat as a proxy to image dynamic processes with 4D electrical resistivity tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Since salt cannot always be used as a geophysical tracer (because it may pollute the aquifer with the mass that is necessary to induce a geophysical contrast), and since in many contaminated aquifer salts (e.g., chloride) already constitute the main ...

Microscopic time‐dependent mechanical behavior of shale derived from nanoindentation

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study conducted grid nanoindentation creep tests to systematically analyze the microscopic creep behaviors of shale. Based on the analysis of creep strain rate sensitivity, the primary mechanism of microscopic creep in shale was found to be the extension and closure of microcracks.
