Modelling Particulate Matter (PM10) Variations During Transboundary Haze Events Using a Modified Quantile Regression Approach

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 2, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Severe haze episodes in Southeast Asia, largely attributed to transboundary pollution from neighbouring countries, have led to substantial environmental degradation and adverse health effects. This study presents the development of a novel air quality forecasting model specifically developed to predict particulate matter with a diameter of ...

Development of functional geopolymers for water purification, and construction purposes

open access: yesJournal of Saudi Chemical Society, 2016
This paper deals with the development of functional geopolymers based on local resources such as kaolinitic soil and zeolitic tuff for the construction of water storage containers and water transfer channels. The effect of water content on the mechanical

Gels for CO2 geo‐storage and conformance control: A systemic review of behavior and performance

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, Volume 4, Issue 4, Page 612-637, December 2025.
This review provides a systemic evaluation of potential sealants used in CO2 subsurface storage practices. Critical analyses of how external factors like CO2, pH, brine salinity and hardness, rock mineralogy, pressure, temperature, and injectivity could affect the performance of different sealants are provided. Abstract Carbon capture and storage (CCS)

Reuse of iron ore tailings in the production of geopolymer mortars

open access: yesREM: International Engineering Journal
A great variety of silica and alumina-rich materials have been investigated in the production of alkaline activated binders (or geopolymers) with low environment impact, e.g. low CO2 emissions. Geopolymer mortars and concretes may be more environmentally

Experimental and numerical investigations on the flexural performance of geopolymers reinforced with short hybrid polymeric fibres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Geopolymers have much higher drying shrinkage than Portland cement based composites Shrinkage performance is an important property for reinforced concrete composites just because a high shrinkage performance is associated to cracking tendency that leads ...

Optimized Hybrid Learning Model for Strength Prediction of Textile Effluent Sludge‐Based Concrete

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 12, December 2025.
Hybrid machine and deep learning models were developed to predict the mechanical performance of concrete incorporating textile effluent sludge (TES), highlighting its potential as a sustainable supplementary cementitious material. LSTM and SVM models achieved the highest accuracy for compressive and tensile strength prediction, respectively.

Elevated Temperature Behavior of Bagasse and Human Hair Fiber‐Reinforced Fly Ash Geopolymer Composites

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 12, December 2025.
This study demonstrates that human hair fiber‐reinforced fly ash geopolymer composites outperform bagasse‐based counterparts at elevated temperatures. They show higher mechanical strength, less thermal weight loss, and stronger fiber–matrix bonding, making them promising sustainable reinforcements for thermally demanding applications.
