Morphoevolutive drivers on a rapidly‐evolving soft rocky cliff and connected shore platform system

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 8, 30 June 2025.
A multi‐source approach combining UAV surveys, optical satellite images and meteo‐marine data identifies key morphoevolutive drivers on a soft rocky cliff system. Results highlight the role of lithology and structure as primary controls, with marine and rainfall forcing acting as preparatory agents in a rapidly evolving coastal landscape.

Planning and optimizing neutering programs for free‐roaming cat populations: An interactive tool for cost‐effective management in closed systems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 6, Page 1421-1436, June 2025.
Our interactive tool enables data‐driven planning of neutering programs, helping stakeholders optimize resource allocation and improve long‐term outcomes. This approach enhances management effectiveness and can be adapted to similar closed systems, offering a scalable solution for balancing ecological and societal concerns.

Suspended transport of gravel in rivers: Empirical evidence from the 2022 flood in the Misa River (Eastern Apennines, Italy)

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 6, May 2025.
In September 2022, a high‐magnitude flood in the Misa River (Italy) transported gravel in suspension, depositing it on superelevated terraces. This was driven by high water discharge, increased fluid density and an entrenched channel limiting widening.

The regressive surface of marine erosion generated by tides: A case study from a Pleistocene tidal sand ridge sequence, Calabria, Southern Italy

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 210-231, February 2025.
We studied an outcrop sequence of tidal sand ridges, the forced‐regressive portion of which exhibits a basal contact interpreted as a regressive surface of marine erosion generated by tides. Abstract The regressive surface of marine erosion is a key stratigraphic discontinuity used to identify episodes of forced regression in marine strata.

Tackling the Thorny Dilemma of Mapping Southeastern Sicily's Coastal Archaeology Beneath Dense Mediterranean Vegetation: A Drone‐Based LiDAR Approach

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, Volume 32, Issue 1, Page 139-158, January/March 2025.
ABSTRACT Airborne laser scanning (ALS), commonly known as Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), is a remote sensing technique that enables transformative archaeological research by providing high‐density 3D representations of landscapes and sites covered by vegetation whose analysis reveals hidden features and structures.

Grassland Changes in the Eastern Alps Over Four Decades: Unveiling Patterns Along an Elevation Gradient

open access: yesApplied Vegetation Science, Volume 28, Issue 1, January/March 2025.
Over four decades, grasslands of Valsugana Valley (Eastern Alps, Italy) have transformed, with low‐elevation sites invaded by neophytes, mid‐elevation grasslands overtaken by woody species, and high‐elevation grasslands losing mountain specialists to new plant arrivals. As grasslands decline, a conservation approach tailored for different elevations is
