Oceanic Feedback to the Atmosphere for Anomalous SST Events Peaking in Early Winter in the Northeast Pacific

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 10, 28 May 2025.
Abstract In the past decade, large‐scale and persistent warm sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTA) occurred frequently in the mid‐latitude Northeast Pacific (NEP), offering a valuable opportunity to further illuminate the oceanic feedback to the atmosphere, which has been a complex issue for mid‐latitude ocean‐atmosphere interaction.

Impact of Penetrating Kelvin Waves on MJO Rainfall Propagation Through Deep Convection Modulation

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 10, 28 May 2025.
Abstract The Madden‐Julian Oscillation (MJO) is a dominant intraseasonal oscillation in the tropics. As MJOs propagate over the Indian Ocean, some of them can be penetrated by fast‐moving equatorial Kelvin waves originating to the west of the MJOs.

GRACE geopotential GAD coefficients GFZ RL06

open access: yes, 2018
Spherical harmonic coefficients that are zero over the continents, and provide the anomalous simulated ocean bottom pressure that includes non-tidal air and water contributions elsewhere during the specified timespan. These coefficients differ from GLO (or GAC) coefficients over the ocean domain by disregarding upper air density anomalies.
