Nov slovenski višinski sistem SVS2010 ( = New Slovenian height system SVS2010) [PDF]

open access: yesGeodetski Vestnik, 2019
In December 2018, a new national height system called the ‘Slovenian Height System 2010’ was introduced (denoted as ‘SVS2010’). It is based on a new levelling network of the first order, which has been measured over the previous decade.

Measurement of geopotential heights by GPS radio occultation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, 1997
Geopotential heights of constant pressure surfaces are retrieved from global positioning system (GPS) radio occultation data. In order to assess accuracy a subset of data obtained by GPS/MET during spring 1995 and summer 1995 are compared to the output of the European Centre for Medium‐Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) global model.

Reanalysis of summer pressure systems affecting Iran\'s atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات کاربردی علوم جغرافیایی, 2021
This study investigates the subtropical anticyclones and summer monsoons of the north hemisphere in the 500 hPa level, effective on Iran in a 38-year period (1975-2012).

Interannual Variation in Snowfall over Songhua River Basin and Its Relationship with West North Pacific Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies during Boreal Winter

open access: yesGaoyuan qixiang, 2023
Based on the 103 stations precipitation over Songhua River Basin (SRB), the reanalysis data of NCEP/NCAR, the sea surface temperature (SST) from NOAA, the interannual variation in snowfall over SRB and its relationship with west north Pacific SST ...

Impacts of Spectral Nudging Parameters on Dynamical Downscaling in Summer over Mainland China

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2020
Spectral nudging is an important method of improving the effectiveness of dynamical downscaling in the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF). However, spectral nudging is sensitive to nudging parameters, and most related research has typically ...

A new India-Burma Trough Index and its Relationship with Interdecadal Changes of Precipitation over Southern China

open access: yesGaoyuan qixiang
The India-Burma Trough (IBT), a semi-permanent low-pressure system situated on the southern flank of the Qinghai-Xizang (Tibetan) Plateau during the winter half-year, plays a crucial role in modulating winter and spring precipitation patterns across ...

Geoid Studies in Two Test Areas in Greece Using Different Geopotential Models towards the Estimation of a Reference Geopotential Value

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
In the present study, we first examine the contribution of different, satellite-only or combined, global geopotential models in geoid computation employing the remove–compute–restore approach. For this reason, two test areas of about 100 km2 each, one in

Persistent positive anomalies in geopotential heights drive enhanced wildfire activity across Europe. [PDF]

open access: yesPhilos Trans R Soc Lond B Biol Sci
Persistent positive anomalies in 500 hPa geopotential height (PPAs) are upper-air circulation patterns associated with surface heatwaves, drought, and consequently fuel aridity, elevated fire weather, and active wildfires. We examined the association between PPA events and surface fire weather and burned area at a pan-European level.

On the meridional asymmetry of the poleward‐displaced intertropical convergence zone

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
We analyze the complex, asymmetrical dynamical structure of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) in the East Pacific and Atlantic basins, seen during boreal summer, using a global, coupled storm‐resolving simulation. The equatorial pressure gradients lead to the acceleration of southerlies, which decelerate when the zonal flow becomes westerly ...
