Taxonomy and diversity of Marcgraviaceae, north of the São Francisco river, northeast Brazil

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
This study provides a comprehensive assessment of Marcgraviaceae species diversity north of the São Francisco river in northeastern Brazil, analyzing species richness and distribution patterns across 384 000 km² of phytogeographic domains. Through field collections, herbarium studies (both physical and digital), and detailed morphological analyses, we ...

Adequacy of pseudo-direct georeferencing of terrestrial laser scanning data for coastal landscape surveying against indirect georeferencing [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Remote Sensing, 2017
The georeferencing process is crucial to the accuracy of terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) data, in particular in the context of diachronic studies relying on multi-temporal surveys. The use of Ground Control Points in the georeferencing process can however be complex when confronted with the practical constraints of coastal surveying. A simple and quick

Engaging the public in plant science: Communication facilitators and barriers of scaling up a citizen science campaign

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Volunteers have been involved in nature observations for decades through citizen science initiatives, providing large data sets as well as problem identification that allow a more complete understanding of many natural phenomena. Although communication is a core component in citizen science, the key factors that determine its effectiveness in ...

Subsurface Investigations of Cryo‐Hydrogeological Features in a High Arctic Catchment Under Transition

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, the internal structure and seasonal variations of cryo‐hydrogeological features were investigated in the Fuglebekken catchment, located near the Polish Polar Station Hornsund in Svalbard. Over a few years, rising air temperatures and intensified water circulation have significantly altered the distribution, extent, and state of ...

The importance of integrating herbarium records into conservation plans: a case study on Honduran ferns and lycophytes

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Herbarium collections are powerful, yet underutilized, tools for global biodiversity conservation and protected area management. By integrating digitized herbarium records with existing biodiversity data, previously unknown plant species were uncovered, exposing critical gaps in conservation knowledge.
