Featureless visual processing for SLAM in changing outdoor environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Vision-based SLAM is mostly a solved problem providing clear, sharp images can be obtained. However, in outdoor environments a number of factors such as rough terrain, high speeds and hardware limitations can result in these conditions not being met ...

Synthesizing a Lego Forklift Controller in GR(1): A Case Study

open access: yes, 2016
Reactive synthesis is an automated procedure to obtain a correct-by-construction reactive system from a given specification. GR(1) is a well-known fragment of linear temporal logic (LTL) where synthesis is possible using a polynomial symbolic algorithm ...

Identifying Vessel Branching from Fluid Stresses on Microscopic Robots

open access: yes, 2020
Objects moving in fluids experience patterns of stress on their surfaces determined by the geometry of nearby boundaries. Flows at low Reynolds number, as occur in microscopic vessels such as capillaries in biological tissues, have relatively simple ...

A Physiological Microfluidic Blood–Brain‐Barrier Model for In Vitro Study of Nanoparticle Trafficking and Accumulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A human microfluidic blood‐brain barrier (mBBB) model enables spatially resolved comparison of nanoparticle trafficking. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), liposomes, and nanoplastics exhibit distinct transport and disruption behaviors, revealing that membrane composition and uptake pathways govern BBB interaction.

A Distributed Epigenetic Shape Formation and Regeneration Algorithm for a Swarm of Robots

open access: yes, 2018
Living cells exhibit both growth and regeneration of body tissues. Epigenetic Tracking (ET), models this growth and regenerative qualities of living cells and has been used to generate complex 2D and 3D shapes.

Thermal Processing Creates Water‐Stable PEDOT:PSS Films for Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Instead of using chemical cross–linkers, it is shown that PEDOT:PSS thin films for bioelectronics become water‐stable after a simple heat treatment. The heat treatment is compatible with a range of rigid and elastomeric substrates and films are stable in vivo for >20 days.
