Decentralized geospatial metadata management
Earth Science Informatics, 2021Metadata descriptions are typically monolithic data structures and their denormalized, text-based nature yields shortcomings such as inconsistencies and heterogeneities. Moreover, fluidity of research environments, coupled with single-tenancy of metadata descriptions, impedes enforcing authority on the related datasets effectively.

An integrated geospatial metadata storing architecture
IEEE International IEEE International IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2004. IGARSS '04. Proceedings. 2004, 2004With the widespread of the concept and implementation of Web Services, more types of data need to be shared. To facilitate the discovering and sharing of geospatial data sets and geospatial Web services, this paper presents an integrated storing architecture for geospatial metadata.

Using geospatial metadata to boost collaborative filtering
Proceedings of the 7th ACM conference on Recommender systems, 2013In this paper, we present a method for boosting collaborative filtering by integrating spatial information about geo-referenced items (e.g., photos). In particular, we developed a method to estimate missing ratings by propagating an item's neighbor's ratings based on the similarity of geospatial information.

Metadata Information Systems for Geospatial Data
2001The more information and data are produced by the actual information society, the more important become mechanisms and systems which organize the data and include information where to find which data. The most popular peculiarities of such information systems are metadata information systems (MIS) and catalogue systems (CS). The main difference between

Automatic Metadata Generation for Geospatial Resource Discovery
2012In the metadata generation context, metadata extraction is the first and most important stage in the production chain and has an enormous complexity due to the huge variety of storage formats for geospatial datasets. In addition, the authors analyze the current situation and importance of metadata in information systems and particularly in SDI.

A Proposed Planetary Extension for FGDC Geospatial Metadata
2020<p>As part of USGS Astrogeology&#8217;s ongoing efforts to support planetary spatial data infrastructures (PSDI), this extension seeks to codify common descriptions of planetary geoscience data that do not have an equivalence in the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (

An effective method of optimizing geospatial metadata retrieval
2015 23rd International Conference on Geoinformatics, 2015Nowadays, many spatial data infrastructures are providing users the ability to discover, access, publish, and share geospatial data for free. Metadata plays a critical role when searching remote sensing data entities. However, as the spatial data infrastructure usually has a large number of users, the metadata database has high access concurrency ...

A metadata-based method for modeling geospatial objects
SPIE Proceedings, 2006Metadata plays important roles in the description, definition and exploration of geospatial data, therefore, underpinned greatly geospatial data exchanging and information sharing. We proposed here a metadata-based method for modeling geospatial objects.
