Atmospheric soundings from a geostationary satellite
Applied Optics, 1983The accuracy of the soundings from a geostationary platform with the visible infrared spin-scan radiometer atmospheric sounder (VAS) on GOES-5 is evaluated. It is shown that the VAS radiances for the case under investigation are consistent with those obtained by the polar orbiting high resolution infrared radiation sounders.
