Abstract Just as in the case of hydrogeology and petroleum engineering, well testing is an invaluable tool in assessing the resource deliverability of geothermal reservoirs. While the techniques of production testing and interference testing already developed in hydrogeology and petroleum engineering provide a strong foundation for geothermal well ...

Some geothermal measurements at the Otake geothermal area
Geothermics, 1970For the purpose of preparing the fundamental data on the problems of geothermal development, thermal discharge, temperature gradient and thermal conductivity of rock samples were measured at Otake geothermal area. In a geothermal area, generally, heat is discharged by various processes, such as fumaroles, which can be classified under several ...

"Noncondensables" In Geothermal Fields
SPE Oilfield and Geothermal Chemistry Symposium, 1979Abstract The behavior of gases in geothermal fluids was studied at Republic Geothermal, Inc.'s (RGI's) East mesa test site. Specifically, the solubility of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen (N2) as a function of temperature and-pressure was investigated in detail by chemical analyses and theoretical evaluations.

Proceedings of the IEEE, 2001
In 1999, 8 GW/sub e/ of electrical generating plant worldwide was powered by geothermal heat. Geothermal sources generated 49 terawatt hours of virtually pollution-free power that year. Coal- or oil-fired plants generating this amount would discharge /spl sim/40 million tons per year of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Evaluation of geothermal prospects and the objectives of geothermal exploration
Geoexploration, 1970Abstract Some of the basic considerations involved in the evaluation of geothermal prospects are reviewed. The elementary principles of the extraction of heat from geothermal reservoirs are discussed on the basis of an example. It is concluded that in order to sustain power generation in the 100 MW range geothermal reservoirs must have temperatures ...

Geothermal Reservoir Modelling
SPE Annual Fall Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1977Abstract This paper describes and partially evaluates an implicit, three-dimensional geothermal reservoir simulation model. The evaluation emphasizes stability or time-step tolerance of the implicit finite-difference formulation.
