Prokaryotic Communities Differ Along a Geothermal Soil Photic Gradient
Microbial Ecology, 2012Geothermal influenced soils exert unique physical and chemical limitations on resident microbial communities but have received little attention in microbial ecology research. These environments offer a model system in which to investigate microbial community heterogeneity and a range of soil ecological concepts.

Normal Geothermal Gradient in United States
AAPG Bulletin, 1935The objects in preparing this paper have been, first, to prepare a brief summary of the gradients deduced from recent geothermal surveys in the United States; and second, to discuss the data thus summarized from the standpoint of a normal geothermal gradient.

Geothermal Gradients in Mississippi Embayment: ABSTRACT
AAPG Bulletin, 1983A statistical analysis of bottom-hole temperatures from oil and gas wells in the northern Mississippi embayment suggests that the geothermal gradient below a depth of 1 km is low (22.2°C/km) and for the New Madrid seismic zone, it is even lower (15.7°C/km).

GEOTHERMAL GRADIENTS AND GEOTHERMAL OIL GENERATION IN SOUTHERN IRAQ: A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION
Journal of Petroleum Geology, 1984Local geothermal gradients in South Iraq were used in calculating the time‐temperature indices of source rock maturation, as modified by Waples (1980). Accordingly, Cretaceous, Jurassic, Triassic and probably Paleozoic rocks are calculated to be with in the thermal petroleum generative zone in several parts of southern Iraq.

Geologic Significance of a Geothermal Gradient Curve
AAPG Bulletin, 1937The Getty-Dooley well No. 7 was drilled in Eddy County, New Mexico, to a depth of 6,683 feet and passed through a thick section of Permian rocks, including the Rustler, Salado, Carlsbad, Capitan, Delaware Mountain, and into the top of the Bone Spring limestone. This stratigraphic section is divisible into three lithologic units: the Rustler-Salado, the

Geothermal Gradients, Hydrodynamics, and Hydrocarbon Occurrences, Alberta, Canada
AAPG Bulletin, 1984Using coal rank data and the demonstrated genetic link between the present hydrodynamic regime and geothermal gradient pattern, it is possible to reconstruct the geothermal history of Alberta over the past 60 m.y. Palinspastic adjustment for tectonic compression caused by the major Laramide thrusting shows that the predeformation isoreflectance lines ...

Approximate Geothermal Gradients in Niger Delta Sedimentary Basin
AAPG Bulletin, 1976More than 1,000 well logs from the Niger delta sedimentary basin were examined for temperature-data quality. Most measurements were made within 4 to 8 hours of cessation of mud circulation. Such nonequilibrium temperatures were corrected to approximately true formation values by applying a numerical solution to a modified Lachenbruch-Brewer's equation.
