Geothermal resource energetics

Geothermics, 1974
Abstract The theory of geothermal heat extraction is discussed on the basis of three simple idealized models, that is, (1) single fracture flow, (2) intergranular flow and (3) intergranular vaporization models. Theoretical expressions for the total available specific resource energy per unit area or unit volume are given.

Geothermal Resource Investigations

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1973
As a major step toward augmentation of the water supply of the Lower Colorado River Basin, the Bureau of Reclamation is investigating the geothermal resource potential of the basin underlying California’s Imperial Valley. Multipurpose development of hot geothermal brines may produce upward of 2,500,000 acre-ft of high quality water per year, and add up

Geothermal Resources in China

Revue de l'Institut Français du Pétrole, 1980
The present paper deals mainly with the distribution features, briefly describes the geology in the three geothermal fields of different types in Beijing, Yangbajing of Xizang (Tibet), and Dengwu of Guangdong, and finally gives on account of the development and utilization of geothermal resources.

Exploring the shallow geothermal resources in the Chilean Southern Volcanic Zone: Insight from the Liquiñe thermal springs

, 2020
Southern Volcanic Zone (SVZ) hosts numerous thermal springs (25–85 °C), related to Liquine-Ofqui Fault System (LOFS) and Andean Transverse Faults (ATFs), suggesting the feasibility of low- to high-enthalpy geothermal exploitation.

Geothermal Resource Exploration

1982
Exploration for geothermal resources in the Basin and Range geomorphic province of the western United States is much akin to mineral resource exploration. In this region, potential geothermal resources are located at or near zones of intersection of normal faults, where fracture permeability permits deep circulation of meteoric water into high ...

Geothermal resources of Sumatra

Geothermics, 1993
Abstract There are at least 30 high temperature systems (with inferred reservoir temperatures >200°C) along the active Sumatra Arc that transfer heat from crustal intrusions to the surface. These systems, together with eleven active volcanoes, five degassing volcanoes and one caldera volcano (Lake Toba), are controlled by the Sumatra Fault Zone, an ...

California's Geothermal Resource Potential

Energy Sources, 1978
According to a U.S. Geological Survey estimate, recoverable hydrothermal energy in California may amount to 19,000 MW of electric power for a 30-year period. At present, a geothermal installation in the Geysers region of the state provides 502 MWe of capacity; an additional 1500 MWe of electric generating capacity is scheduled to be in operation in ...
