Optimized Dual ANN Control Technique for Efficient Energy Management System (EMS) of Microgrid

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Proposed methodology. ABSTRACT The escalating global energy demand necessitates a shift towards sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives. While renewable energy sources like solar and wind energy offer promising solutions, their intermittent nature poses significant challenges for grid integration.

Efficient Numerical Framework for Geothermal Energy Production Optimization in Fracture‐Controlled Reservoirs

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, EarlyView.
We introduce an efficient open‐source numerical framework for the automated search for the placements of injection and production wells in hot fracture‐controlled reservoirs that sustainably optimize geothermal energy production. We model the reservoirs as discrete fracture networks in 3D. The fluid flow and heat transport in the reservoirs are modeled

Sustainable reuse of oil and gas wells for geothermal energy production: Numerical analysis of deep closed loop solutions in Italy

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Management: X
This study assesses the feasibility of repurposing abandoned oil and gas wells in Italy for geothermal energy production employing a geothermal closed-loop system. A systematic methodology was developed, beginning with raw data collection and progressing

Evidence From Microscopy and U–Pb Geochronology as a Clue to the Influence of the Cretaceous Magmatism in the Diagenesis of Pre‐Salt Carbonate Reservoirs in the Santos Basin (Brazil)

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Carbonates from Santos Basin revealed U–Pb ages correlated with basalt ages (A), suggesting that they were formed during magmatic events. These events placed hot CO2 in the reservoir, which, when mixed with carbonate‐rich cold water (B), led to thermal convection, enabling the formation of the U contained in the carbonates.

A geothermal doublet in a single well: application of the recirculation well concept to reuse wells to be abandoned

open access: yesDiscover Energy
The depletion of oil and gas reservoirs leaves many deep and expensive wells with no option but to be abandoned. However, these wells could have a second chance to extend their life as a source of geothermal energy, especially if they are located next to

First Geothermal Potential Evaluation in Mexico of a Gas Producer Field: The Comitas Field Case

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional
Burgos Basin is an important hydrocarbon province in Mexico, as it has high gas production and some wells also produce condensed oil. The Burgos Basin has favorable geological conditions to store fluids, like dry gas, gas condensate and formation water ...

Mesozoic–Cenozoic Thermochronology of the Tarim–Southern Tianshan System, NW China

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Tectonothermal history of the Tarim–Southern Tianshan system compared with the major tectonic events at far‐field plate margins. ABSTRACT The Tarim Basin, an oil‐bearing basin in northwest China, is tectonically and sedimentologically linked to the Southern Tianshan Orogenic Belt.
