Thermometry in geothermal wells: an optical approach
Applied Optics, 1985A temperature measuring system based on purely optical devices is described, which exploits the temperature dependence of the physical properties of a birefringent crystal. The system is expected to measure the temperature profile in geothermal wells up to 500° C and with a resolution better than 0.1 ° C.

WELL TESTING IN TWO-PHASE GEOTHERMAL WELLS
Proceedings of SPE Annual Fall Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1978Abstract This paper deals with the possibility of using usual oil well transient pressure testing methods in hot water wells when flashing occurs in the wellbore. Multiple rate analysis techniques have been successfully applied to available data on a well drilled by B.R.G.M.

Performance of Geopolymers in Geothermal Wells
57th U.S. Rock Mechanics/Geomechanics Symposium, 2023ABSTRACT Geothermal wells play an important role in harnessing geothermal energy stored underground as the push for the strategic development of renewable energy increases. The use of conventional wellbore cement in geothermal wells is commonly associated with challenges due to the harsh and highly corrosive ...

Completion of producing geothermal wells
Geothermics, 1970Abstract Completion of producing geothermal wells involves a series of operations. Following a brief description of spontaneous blowout, different systems to start production of wells are discussed. Should blowout fail to occur spontaneously from the well, several techniques (plunger piston, gas-lift and foaming operations) are applied.

Cementing materials for geothermal wells
Geothermics, 1972Abstract In a well used in the search for endogenous fluids the opportunity exists to stop level of thermal waters of high temperature and pressure so that deeper levels can be reached, where it is inferred that there are fluids with better thermodynamic characteristics.

Drilling mud in geothermal wells
Geothermics, 1970Abstract Owing to high thermality in areas where harnessing of endogenous steam takes place, an accurate choice of the type of circulating mud proves necessary in order to maintain the drilling fluid properties when temperatures exceed 140 °C. Along with high temperature effects, an analysis is made of alterations of mud constituents because of the ...

Cementing Geothermal Steam Wells
Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1964Abstract Cementing deep, high-temperature oil wells where static temperatures range from 350 to 400F has become routine in the past decade. In the United States there were 271 wells drilled deeper than 15,000 ft during 1963. Many of these wells had static temperatures higher than 400F.

Geothermal Well Cementing Technology
Proceedings of Southeast Asia Show, 1984ABSTRACT The success or failure of drilling and completing Geothermal Wells depends reatly on available cementing technology. This requires not only having the knowledge of temperature stable competent materials but also a complete understanding of hole preparation, casing running procedures, mud displacement, lost circulation and the ...
