"Digital humanitarianism" is a new socio-technical development which incorporates social media, crowdsourcing, and Big Data into humanitarianism and emergency management. Digital humanitarianism melds together these new technologies with new institutional practices and relationships, drawing on the labor and knowledge of laypeople from across the world.
