Systematics and evolution of the subfamily Gerbillinae (Mammalia, Rodentia, Muridae)

open access: yesMolecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2005
Although they represent a quarter of the mammalian species, the evolutionary relationships among as well as within, the main murid lineages are still controversial. The subfamily Gerbillinae is no exception as previous studies based on morphological, karyotypical, and allozyme characters are highly incongruent.

Biochemical Genetics, 2022
To enrich the mitogenomic database of Gerbillinae (Rodentia: Muridae), mitogenomes of three gerbils from different genera, Meriones tamariscinus (16,393 bp), Brachiones przewalskii (16,357 bp), and Rhombomys opimus (16,352 bp), were elaborated and compared with those of other gerbils in the present study.

Spontaneous Neoplasms in Aging Gerbillinae. A Summary of Forty-four Neoplasms

Veterinary Pathology, 1974
Forty-four neoplasms were found at necropsy in 115 gerbils from a colony of wild-caught, and first- or second-generation laboratory-raised gerbils. Ten species of gerbils varying from 24 to 61 months of age were affected. The neoplasms occurred in 18 primary locations and included nine neoplasms previously unreported in gerbils.
