Preconditioning with L-alanyl-L-glutamine in a Mongolian Gerbil model of acute cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury Pré-condicionamento com L-alanil-L-glutamina em modelo de isquemia/reperfusão cerebral aguda em Gerbils da Mongólia

open access: yesActa Cirúrgica Brasileira, 2011
PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of L-alanyl-L-glutamine (L-Ala-Gln) preconditioning in an acute cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) model in gerbils. METHODS: Thirty-six Mongolian gerbils (Meriones unguiculatus), (60-100g), were randomized in 2 groups

Behaviour and Breeding in Captivity of the Namaqua Gerbil Desmodillus Auricularis (Cricetidae: Gerbillinae) [PDF]

open access: bronzeZoologica Africana, 1973
Desmodillus auricilimis was kept in observation cages and subjected to an increased number of lighthours. The animal is nocturnal and its activity rhythm was adjusted using a red light to simulate darkness during the day. Three litters were produced from one pair and observations were made on twelve other litters born in the laboratory from pregnant ...

Systematics and evolution of the subfamily Gerbillinae (Mammalia, Rodentia, Muridae)

open access: yesMolecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2005
Although they represent a quarter of the mammalian species, the evolutionary relationships among as well as within, the main murid lineages are still controversial. The subfamily Gerbillinae is no exception as previous studies based on morphological, karyotypical, and allozyme characters are highly incongruent.

Phylogeography of the Tibetan hamster Cricetulus kamensis in response to uplift and environmental change in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 9, Issue 12, Page 7291-7306, June 2019., 2019
Major genetic differentiations of Cricetulus kamensis occurred in the late Pliocene. Cricetulus kamensis populations were restricted into two major clades due to tectonic movement of QTP and the Last Glacial Maximum. Abstract Aim The evolutionary process of an organism provides valuable data toward an understanding of the Earth evolution history.
