Germination: a means to improve the functionality of oat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The biochemical and physiological reactions of germination have long been utilised to produce barley malt for brewing and other purposes. Also some oat malt has been produced as raw-material of ale and stout production.

Post harvest maturation of the selected spring barley varieties in 2011.

open access: yesKvasný průmysl, 2012
There were considerable differences amoug all 2011 varieties studied, three weeks after achieving full maturity. Values of germination energy varied from 69-93 %. Post-harvest maturation was the slowest in the varieties Aksamit and Radegast.

Variability of Italian ryegrass and perennial ryegrass seed quality produced in two different regions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal on Processing and Energy in Agriculture, 2017
The paper presents the results of four seed lots produced in Serbia and Belarus in two years, and examines the influence of their quality on 1000 seed mass, germination energy and total germination.

Treatment of Solanum torvum seeds improves germination in a batch-dependent manner

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Tropical, 2016
The Solanum torvum species can grow in soils with a heavy load of nematodes and pathogenic fungi. It is currently much in demand in intensive agriculture as a rootstock of Solanaceae species, such as eggplant and tomato.

Germination Characteristics Is More Associated With Phylogeny-Related Traits of Species in a Salinized Grassland of Northeastern China

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2021
Knowing the determinants of seed germination helps us understand plant adaptive strategies to the environment and predict population and community regeneration under climate change.

Arabidopsis thaliana DOF6 negatively affects germination in non-after ripened seeds and interacts with TCP14 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Seed dormancy prevents seeds from germinating under environmental conditions unfavourable for plant growth and development and constitutes an evolutionary advantage.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Mesocotyl elongation in Digitaria sanguinalis during seedling development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The mesocotyl is an embryonic organ present in Poaceae that plays an important role in seedling emergence. The elongation of this first internode contributes decisively to the coleoptile reaching the soil surface.

Production of antibacterial compounds by a Steely hybrid polyketide synthase in Dictyostelium

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
By selecting appropriate production species under optimised culture conditions, new chlorinated dibenzofuran compounds, which previously could not be analysed in sufficient quantities, were identified from cellular slime mould fruiting bodies. The strong antibacterial activity exhibited by these compounds suggests a link to the ecological function of ...

The heterotrimeric G-protein complex modulates light sensitivity in arabidopsis thaliana seed germination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Release of dormancy and induction of seed germination are complex traits finely regulated by hormonal signals and environmental cues such as temperature and light.
