Dormancy of the Selected Malting Barley Varieties from 2001 to 2003.

open access: yesKvasný průmysl, 2004
Dormancy of barley belongs today to the parameters of malting barley quality evaluation. Intensity of barley dormancy was checked by determination of germination energy on Petri dishes with 4 ml of water after 72 hours in a thermostat at 20 °C ...

The heterotrimeric G-protein complex modulates light sensitivity in arabidopsis thaliana seed germination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Release of dormancy and induction of seed germination are complex traits finely regulated by hormonal signals and environmental cues such as temperature and light.

Bone Organoids: A Novel Tool for Modeling and Managing Skeletal Disorders in Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes advances in bone organoid engineering and evaluates their potential to model diabetic bone fragility. Current in vitro and animal models do not fully recapitulate diabetes‐associated skeletal phenotypes. Cell‐based and scaffold‐based bone organoids are discussed as complementary approaches to reconstruct multicellular bone ...

Spring Barley Seeding Rate and Interseeding Trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
With the revival of the small grains industry in the Northeast and the strength of the localvore movement, craft breweries and distilleries have expressed an interest in sourcing local barley for malting.

Redox-mediated Kick-Start of Mitochondrial Energy Metabolism drives Resource-efficient Seed Germination [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2019
ABSTRACTSeeds preserve a far developed plant embryo in a quiescent state. Seed metabolism relies on stored resources and is re-activated to drive germination when the external conditions are favorable. Since the switchover from quiescence to re-activation provides a remarkable case of a cell physiological transition we investigated the earliest events ...

Self‐Adaptive Allantoin@ZIF8 Nanocomposite Hydrogel with Resveratrol Synergy for MRSA‐Infected Wound Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on allantoin‐loaded ZIF8 nanoparticles (Alla@ZIF8) and methacrylated quaternary ammonium carboxymethyl chitosan/resveratrol composite hydrogels (RMQCC), an adaptive multifunctional hydrogel system (Alla@ZIF8‐Gel) was constructed and confirmed to induce the healing of MRSA‐infected wounds via suppressing bacterial proliferation, alleviating ...

Cascade‐Responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF Heterostructure Integrates Antioxidant Activity, Infection Control, and Vascularization for Tracheal Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A cascade‐responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF/GelMA hydrogel is engineered as a “skeleton–backpack” platform for extensive tracheal repair. The MXene framework scavenges postoperative ROS and converts NIR light into mild hyperthermia, while the Cu‐MOF component provides pH/NIR‐responsive Cu2+ dosing for infection control, angiogenesis, and chondrogenesis.

A Short Review on the Development of Salt Tolerant Cultivars in Rice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Rice is staple food for half of the world. With a population of almost 9.6 billion by the year 2050, there is a dire need of developing techniques to improve the crop plants, not only in terms of better yield but also to withstand harsh environmental ...

Metarhizium anisopliae Mitigates the Phytotoxicity of Lead and Nanoplastics on Rice by Modifying Physiological, Transcriptomic, Metabolomic Activities, and Soil Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metarhizium anisopliae alleviates the phytotoxic effects of polyethylene nanoplastics (NP) and lead (Pb) in rice by decreasing Pb uptake, restoring antioxidant and hormonal equilibrium, and promoting growth. Additionally, the fungus modifies the rhizosphere microbiota, enhancing both contaminant tolerance and plant growth, thereby effectively ...
