Sugar‐Armored Pesticides: Self‐Assembled System for Enhanced Foliar Adhesion and Sustained Delivery of Hydrophobic Antimicrobials Against Bacterial Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a sugar‐armored, self‐assembled pesticide delivery system that enhances foliar adhesion, provides sustained release, effectively disrupts biofilms, and demonstrates superior bactericidal activity for improved disease control.

A study of seed vigour and seedling emergence of maize under field and laboratory conditions : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Agricultural Science at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Maximum yield is obtained from an optimum stand of any crop species. However there are many factors influencing the stand which can broadly be grouped as soil and plant factors. Soil moisture, temperature and aeration influence germination. These factors

Evaluation of the germination speed index of macrotiloma seeds with four scarification methods

open access: yesBoletim de Indústria Animal, 2019
The Germination Speed Index (GSI) is a vigor test used to evaluate seeds€™ physiological quality. In addition, this parameter is frequently used to determine forage seeds€™ viability and can be applied to species Macrotyloma axillare (E. Mey.) Verdc Generally, seeds of this legume present variable dormancy, depending on the stain, possibly hindering ...

Plant‐Derived Melatonin Inhibits Bacterial Virulence via CpxA/R Two‐Component System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐derived melatonin is sensed by CpxAE48/T51, which inhibits the phosphorylation cascade transmission from CpxAH240 to CpxRD52, resulting in the inhibition of DNA‐binding capacity of CpxR and subsequent T3SS genes expression in Pst DC3000. ABSTRACT In defending against pathogens, plants deploy diverse secondary metabolites and signaling molecules ...

GENETIC VARIABILITY FOR SPEED OF GERMINATION IN BEAN (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) SEEDS

open access: yes, 2000
This work was designed to investigate the possible existence of genetic variability for speed of germination in bean seeds. Hundred and one genotypes, three of them green beans and the remainder dry beans, were evaluated in greenhouse. Greenhouse produced seeds were sowed in plastic boxes at depths of 2.5 and 8.0 cm.

Economic and Environmental Tradeoffs in Cultivating Short Food Supply Chains With Urban Indoor Agriculture

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study advances the literature on sustainable urban agriculture and alternative sustainable food production systems, which have gained momentum due to the need to strengthen regional food supply chains and meet the growing urban demand for fresh food. Indoor agriculture (IA) holds promise for year‐round cultivation of fresh produce even in
