Fungal Biology, 2018
Light conditions during fungal growth are well known to cause several physiological adaptations in the conidia produced. In this study, conidia of the entomopathogenic fungi Metarhizium robertsii were produced on: 1) potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium in the dark; 2) PDA medium under white light (4.98 W m-2); 3) PDA medium under blue light (4.8 W m-2 ...

Changes in viability and germination speed of primed sugar beet seed during storage
Proceedings of 36th Biennial Meeting, 2011It is generally accepted that priming causes some degree of loss of shelf life. Germains priming methods do not cause a reduction in viability after storage for 18 months at 20°C and 55% RH, which is considered to represent 1-year carryover of seed held according to conventional good practice.

Speed of Germination Affects Diameter at Lifting of Nursery-Grown Loblolly Pine Seedlings
Southern Journal of Applied Forestry, 1985Abstract Speed of germination affects seedling quantity and quality. This study investigated the effect of germination speed on loblolly pine (Pinus taeda) seedling diameter at lifting. Studies were installed at three forest nurseries in Alabama to test the effects of stratification treatments on speed of germination and of seedling ...

Speed of Germination as a Criterion of Seed Vigor in Soybeans1
Crop Science, 1979The effect of germination speed on the development and seed yield of soybean [Glyclne max(L.) Merr.] plants was investigated. Seedlings from graded ‘Clark’ soybean seeds were geminated in individual turf pots and grouped according to speed of germination.

Effect of Tray Type and Tray Covering on Wicking Speed, Germination, and Spiral Rooting of Tobacco
2012Poor tray wicking and spiral rooting continue to be recurring concerns in tobacco float systems. Poor wicking of trays can usually be attributed to old media or media that was improperly stored for extended periods of time. Tray design may also influence speed of wicking.
