Comparison of Seed Germinating Vigor, Early Germination Speed and Germination Peak Time in Perennial Ryegrass Cultivars under Different Germination Conditions [PDF]

Germination and field emergence in osmotic and solid matrix priming in onion (Allium cepa)
Solid matrix priming for 24 hr significantly improved seed germination (81.6%) as compared to 12 hr, 36 hr or 48 hr duration. A priming duration of 24 hr gave maximum speed of germination (16.95) while priming duration of 48 hr gave minimum value for ...

Smoke and heat accelerate and increase germination in fire‐prone temperate grassy ecosystems
Fire increases seedling recruitment by reducing competition for space and resources. As such, many species in fire‐prone ecosystems germinate in response to fire cues such as smoke and heat.

Secondary wind dispersal enhances long-distance dispersal of an invasive species in urban road corridors [PDF]
Roads contribute to habitat fragmentation and function as dispersal barriers for many organisms. At the same time many nonnative plant species are associated with road systems, a relationship that has been explained by the availability of disturbed ...

Germination Percentage and Germination Speed of European Larch (Larix decidua Mill.) Seed After Prolonged Storage [PDF]
Abstract Thirty European larch seedlots stored in plastic, screw-capped containers at 4°C for 3 to 24 yr were tested for their viability. The average germination percentage was 26.7% per seedlot. Fifty percent of all germinating seeds germinated by the 20th day after sowing and 90% had germinated by the 26th day.

Salinity on the germination of seed and index of germination speed of three ornamental species
Salinity is a factor that interferes on seed germination in most species. The objective of this work was to study the effects of different concentrations of NaCl on the emergence and vigor of Petunia x hybrida hort. Vilm E. ex., Torenia fournieri Lind and Tagetes patula L. seedlings. The experimental design was entirely randomized with five treatments (

In Vitro Seed Germination of Kalmia latifolia L. Hybrids: A Means for Improving Germination and Speeding Up Breeding Cycle [PDF]
Kalmia latifolia L. (mountain laurel), a member of Ericaceae, is a beautiful ornamental shrub native to the eastern United States. The plant is not common in the southeastern United States landscapes because of the limited heat tolerance of most commercial cultivars.
