Use of the software Seed Vigor Imaging System (SVIS®) for assessing vigor of carrot seeds

open access: yesScientia Agricola
Seed vigor has traditionally been evaluated by physiological, biochemical and stress tolerance tests. More recently, with the use of computerized image analysis, objective information has become accessible in a relatively short period of time, with less ...

Physiological and phytosanitary quality of common bean seeds used by small growers in Minas Gerais state, Brazil

open access: yesRevista Agrogeoambiental, 2018
The physiological and phytosanitary qualities of common bean seeds used on a small farming system depend on the cultural practices, drying system and storage conditions employed.

Germination and vigor of pumpkin seeds treated with thiamethoxam

Germination, vigor and pathogen incidence in broccoli seed treated with Carboxin + Thiran [PDF]

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Agricultural Research, 2015
The purpose of treating seeds chemically is to eradicate their pathogens and/or protect them against soil pathogens, mainly by germination time. However, there is little research on vegetables investigating the effect of this treatment on seed quality.

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics Reveals FLS2‐Dependent Hypoxia Signaling and ERF13‐Mediated Transcription During flg22‐Triggered Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs sc‐RNA sequencing, genetics, and phenotyping to systematically map the cell‐type‐specific immune responses triggered by flg22. It reveals FLS2‐dependent transcriptional reprogramming in epidermal and mesophyll cells, and uncovers crosstalk between immune and hypoxia signaling pathways.

Regulation of mRNA translation controls seed germination and is critical for seedling vigor [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
The control of seed germination capacity is a multi-level molecular process including, epigenetic, transcriptional, post-transcriptional, translational, and post-translational regulation (Rajjou et al., 2012). Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, a wide range of genetic, genomic, and post-genomic approaches have been used to decipher the ...

3D Chromatin Architecture Provides Insights Into Leaf Trait Variation Among Pear Species

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Three‐dimensional (3D) chromatin architecture plays a fundamental role in eukaryotic gene regulations, its functional significance in perennial fruit trees remains poorly characterized despite extensive applications in crop genomics. Here, we developed high‐resolution (∼5 kb) Hi‐C maps of Pyrus and compared 3D genomic architecture of three ...

Substrate moisture and temperature in the germination and vigor of pitaya

open access: yesComunicata Scientiae, 2015
Knowledge of appropriate conditions of water and temperature is very important for the metabolic activities involved in the germination process. However, the Rules for Testing Seeds do not indicate the volume of water and the ideal temperature for pitaya germination.
