Abstract This study is the conclusion of a planned series on Gerromorpha from Egypt. A list of Gerromorpha is given with notes on their habitats and distribution. A total of 5 families, 9 genera and 20 species are recorded from Egypt, of which Gerris costae Herrich-Schaeffer (Gerridae) is described as new to Egypt.

Infraorder Gerromorpha Popov, 1971 Gerromorpha is sister group to the Panheteroptera, (i.e., Nepomorpha, Leptopodomorpha, Cimicomorpha, and Pentatomomorpha) (Schuh & Slater 1995), and because members of Nepomorpha are found back into the late Triassic, the Gerromorpha must be of at least the same age (Damgaard 2008).

Morphological study of the antennal sensilla in Gerromorpha (Insecta: Hemiptera: Heteroptera) [PDF]
AbstractThe external morphology and distribution of the antennal sensilla of 21 species from five families of semiaquatic bugs (Gerromorpha) were examined using scanning electron microscopy. Nine main types were distinguished based on their morphological structure: sensilla trichoidea, sensilla chaetica, sensilla leaflike, sensilla campaniformia ...

Review of the family Veliidae in Romania (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Gerromorpha)
Zootaxa, 2015A critical review of the family Veliidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Gerromorpha) in Romania is provided. In total, two genera and eight species (Microvelia Westwood, 1834—3 species, Velia Latreille, 1804—5 species) are known from the country. Microvelia buenoi Drake, 1920 and Velia serbica Tamanini, 1951 are recorded for the first time from Romania.

Nomenclatural issues in Rhagovelia Mayr (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Gerromorpha: Veliidae)
Zootaxa, 2012Nieser & Polhemus (1999) described four species of Rhagovelia (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Gerromorpha: Veliidae) from the state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil: Rhagovelia ochroischion, R. sbolos, R. trianguloides, and R. turmalis. Nevertheless, these same nomina were used in an identification key by Nieser & Melo (1997).

Phylogeny of the semiaquatic bugs (Hemiptera-Heteroptera, Gerromorpha)
Insect Systematics & Evolution, 2008AbstractThe phylogeny of semi-aquatic bugs (Hemiptera-Heteroptera: Gerromorpha) was tested in parsimony analyses of 64 morphological characters and approximately 2.5 kb of DNA sequence data from the mitochondrial genes encoding COI+II and 16SrRNA and the nuclear gene encoding 28SrRNA.
