Mapping Resilient Landscapes to Climate Change in a Megadiverse Country

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 10, October 2025.
Our mapping of terrestrial climate‐resilient sites for biodiversity across Brazil identifies sites with greater chances of providing suitable conditions for species to persist under regional climate change. Landscape resilience information has the potential to be used to effectively guide decision‐making and public policy on strategies for conservation,

On‐farm observations of socioenvironmental impacts of Humulus lupulus L. cultivation in Brazil

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 117, Issue 5, September/October 2025.
Abstract Hops (Humulus lupulus L.) have been cultivated in Brazil, the world's third‐largest beer producer, to meet the growing demand of its expanding brewing industry. Despite advances in agricultural practices, research on the sustainability of tropicalizing hop production remains limited. This study evaluates the social and environmental impacts of

Molecular characterization of Serrasalmidae hybrid in the upper Paraná River floodplain using molecular markers

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, Volume 107, Issue 3, Page 1067-1070, September 2025.
Abstract This study reports the molecular identification of a tambacu—a hybrid of Colossoma macropomum and Piaractus mesopotamicus—in the floodplain of the upper Paraná River using molecular markers. The PCR‐GEL method, based on the analysis of COI and TROP fragments, successfully characterized the hybrid, while PCR‐SEQ, employing RAG2 and TROP markers,

Dispersal Ability Reduces Thermal Specialization and Prevents Climate‐Driven Extinctions in a Neotropical Rainforest

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 8, August 2025.
We found that species with higher dispersal ability are less specialized in their temperature tolerances and more likely to persist under climate change. By analyzing more than 6 thousand species of plants, invertebrates, and vertebrates distributed in the Atlantic Rainforest, we show that more mobile species can avoid extinction by shifting locations,

Spatial capture‐recapture can improve environmental impact assessments for large carnivores

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 6, Issue 3, July–September 2025.
Most Environmental Impact Assessments for large carnivores rely on summary statistics or relative abundance indices, all of which ignore imperfect detection and may lead to biased and unreliable conclusions about population status and infrastructure impacts. By applying spatial capture‐recapture (SCR) models to georeferenced genetic data from wolves in
