There are many women who have functioning ovaries but cannot carry a pregnancy. Reasons for this include having no uterus, having an abnormal uterus, having a history of poor pregnancy outcomes, and having illnesses that would preclude pregnancy. Many of these women understandably would like to have a baby who is genetically related to them.
