TCF7L2 rs7903146 polymorphism modulates the association between adherence to a Mediterranean diet and the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus

open access: yesMetabolism Open, 2020
Objective: There is sparse evidence for the impact of gene-diet interaction on gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) onset. Recent findings have shown that late first-trimester high adherence to a Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) pattern is associated with a ...

IGF‐1 Deficiency Serves as an Integrated Biomarker Pathogenic Driver and Predictor in Poor Ovarian Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IGF‐1 deficiency underlies poor ovarian response (POR), as reduced levels in follicular fluid and granulosa cells impair antral follicle formation and compromise reproductive outcomes. Including IGF‐1 as a biomarker significantly enhances the accuracy of models predicting both PORrisk and pregnancy success.

The associations of IGF2, IGF2R and IGF2BP2 gene polymorphisms with gestational diabetes mellitus: A case-control study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
ObjectiveTo investigate the associations of Insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF2) gene, Insulin-like growth factor-II receptor (IGF2R) gene and Insulin-like growth factor-II binding protein 2 (IGF2BP2) gene polymorphisms with the susceptibility to ...

SR‐B1‐Mediated Transplacental Transfer of Hydrophobic Toxicants Disrupts Fetal Development During Barriergenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study maps the spatiotemporal distribution of hydrophobic toxicants and endogenous metabolites in the developing placenta and fetus. By integrating mass spectrometry imaging with snRNA‐seq, we identify SR‐B1 as a key transporter driving early‐gestation xenobiotic transfer and reveal a critical exposure window associated with persistent fetal ...

Prevalence of congenital microcephaly and its risk factors in an area at risk of Zika outbreaks

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2021
Background Prevalence of neonatal microcephaly in populations without Zika-epidemics is sparse. The study aimed to report baseline prevalence of congenital microcephaly and its relationship with prenatal factors in an area at risk of Zika outbreak ...

Development of Human Membrane Transporters: Drug Disposition and Pharmacogenetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Membrane transporters play an essential role in the transport of endogenous and exogenous compounds, and consequently they mediate the uptake, distribution, and excretion of many drugs. The clinical relevance of transporters in drug disposition and their

miR‐135a‐5p Is a Promising Target to Prevent the Glomerulosclerosis Associated with Podocyte Developmental Toxicity in Offspring Induced by Prenatal Dexamethasone Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prenatal dexamethasone exposure (PDE) programs persistent podocyte developmental injury and adult glomerulosclerosis. Mechanistically, glucocorticoid receptor (GR) binds the miR‐135a‐5p promoter and recruits the histone acetyltransferase p300, increasing promoter histone acetylation and sustaining miR‐135a‐5p expression. Elevated miR‐135a‐5p suppresses

Management of pregnancy in women with monogenic diabetes due to mutations in GCK, HNF1A and HNF4A genes

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
Women with maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) need tailored antenatal care and monitoring of their offspring. Each MODY subtype has different implications for glycaemic targets, treatment choices and neonatal management.

Obstetric morbidity in gestational carrier pregnancies: a population-based study

open access: yesJournal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, 2020
We sought to characterize severe obstetric morbidity among women who are gestational carriers compared to other patients. This was a population-based study comparing gestational carrier pregnancies to non-surrogate pregnancies (non-surrogate IVF pregnancies, all non-gestational carrier pregnancies, and a cohort of matched controls) delivering in Utah ...
