Indole‐3‐Propionic Acid Improves Alveolar Development Impairment via Targeting VAMP8‐mediated SNAREs Complex Formation in Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of the tryptophan‐derived metabolite indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) on lung development and autophagic flux. IPA alleviates hyperoxia‐induced alveolar arrest by promoting autophagosome‐lysosome fusion via inhibition of VAMP8 phosphorylation, which is suggestive of a promising therapeutic target of BPD.

Perfluorooctanoic Acid Exposure Causes Macrophage Ammonia Retention and Induces Spontaneous Miscarriages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PFOA exposure induces pregnancy loss by promoting glutaminolysis, which further causes ammonia accumulation in macrophages. Cellular ammonia retention results in damage to mitochondria and lysosomes, which leads to cell death eventually. Impaired lysosomes also decrease the secretion of the Cathepsin B (CTSB), and attenuate macrophage infiltration and ...

USP9X as a Candidate Mediator of Prenatal Aspirin‐Induced Ovarian Reserve Reduction in Offspring Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study suggests that prenatal aspirin exposure is associated with reduced ovarian reserve in offspring, associated with HDAC1‐linked epigenetic downregulation of Usp9x as a candidate mechanism. These preclinical findings provide new insights into fetal‐origin ovarian disorders and contribute to the evidence base concerning aspirin's gestational ...

Excessive gestational weight retention and weight gain in postpartum: Perception of women

open access: yesIndian Journal of Health Sciences and Biomedical Research KLEU, 2019
CONTEXT: Childbearing women are the second victims for significant gestational weight retention and weight gain during reproductive years. There may be unique reasons to weight management in this period. AIM: To explore what women perceive as reasons for

Dynamics of the Mammalian Placental Metabolome in Placentogenesis and Embryonic Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies three metabolic stages (E8.5, E9.5–10.5, E11.5–14.5) and two transition periods (E8.5–9.5, E10.5–11.5) in mouse placental development. NAD(H) emerges as a key dynamic metabolite that enhances embryonic growth through accelerated segmentation and increased proliferation of mouse embryonic stem cell (mESC)‐induced presomitic ...

Tim1 Deficiency Mediates Gestational Hyperglycemia‐Related Syncytiotrophoblast Dysfunction and Fetal Growth Restriction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hyperglycemia during pregnancy impairs the fusion of trophoblast cells into syncytiotrophoblasts, leading to fetal growth restriction. This impaired fusion is mediated by Tim1 downregulation via hyperglycemia‐induced ROS. Antioxidant therapy during pregnancy promotes syncytiotrophoblast formation by upregulating Tim1 expression, thus alleviating fetal ...

Reconsideration of lowering gestational weight gain guidelines in pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes: evidence from a Belgian study

open access: yesBMC Medicine
Background The suitability of the United States National Academy of Medicine guidelines for gestational weight gain in women with gestational diabetes remains uncertain, raising global concerns. This study aimed to evaluate the association of gestational
