open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Several species of Lepidoptera with caterpillars bearing urticating hairs are increasing their range in metropolitan France from year to year, such as the pine processionary (Thaumetopoea pityocampa Denis et Schiffermüller 1775) whose presence was historically limited to the south of France, and which is gradually being observed in the north ...

Opinion and report of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) on the assessment of the impact of fox population dynamics on public health

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) can be hunted as a game species. It may also be listed as a “species likely to cause damage” (ESOD – the acronym in French), for public health reasons among others. Conversely, benefits linked to the presence of foxes are also put forward, such as the predation of rodents carrying zoonotic agents.

More species, more trees: The role of tree packing in promoting forest productivity

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 2, Page 371-386, February 2025.
The effect of tree species richness on maximum stand density in forest plots had been suspected before, but it had hardly ever been taken into account in biodiversity–ecosystem–functioning studies. Here the authors tackle this question by depicting the diversity‐stand density link in actual forests across Europe, and by testing its impact on ...

Evaluation of acaricide treatments to experimentally reduce winter tick load on moose

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, Volume 48, Issue 4, December 2024.
We experimentally reduced winter tick load on moose calves by testing the effectiveness of two acaricide treatments: topical permethrin (5% alone) and a combination of topical permethrin (44%) and orally administered fluralaner (25 mg/kg). We resighted moose calves through recaptures, necropsies or spring flyovers.
