Attentive gesture recognition

2012 19th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2012
This paper presents a novel method for static gesture recognition based on visual attention. Our proposed method makes use of a visual attention model to automatically select points that correspond to fixation points of the human eye. Gesture recognition is then performed using the determined visual attention fixation points.

Mobile Gesture Recognition

Proceedings of the International Conference on Machine Vision and Applications, 2018
This paper presents a methodology for a real time mobile gesture recognition system. It presents a new kind of Human - Machine interaction through mobile devices (microcontroller) and without the use of typical computer system. With the help of real time gesture recognition technologies and by using camera signal processing (web) the interaction with ...

Head gestures recognition

Proceedings 2001 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.01CH37205), 2002
We describe a system that automatically detects and recognizes human head gestures such as nodding and shaking in complex background conditions using a cheap Web camera under uncontrolled conditions. The images of the head, captured at 20 frames per second, are very noisy and are of a low resolution.

Gesture Recognition: A Survey

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Part C (Applications and Reviews), 2007
Gesture recognition pertains to recognizing meaningful expressions of motion by a human, involving the hands, arms, face, head, and/or body. It is of utmost importance in designing an intelligent and efficient human-computer interface. The applications of gesture recognition are manifold, ranging from sign language through medical rehabilitation to ...

Gesture Recognition

2017
The main objective of gesture recognition is to promote the technology behind the automation of registered gesture with a fusion of multidimensional data in a versatile manner. To achieve this goal, computers should be able to visually recognize hand gestures from video input.

Automatic recognition of hand gestures

2019 11th International Conference on Electronics, Computers and Artificial Intelligence (ECAI), 2019
Developing and implementing a software algorithm for detecting, recognizing and interpreting hand gestures. The project involves an automatic realtime image analysis system that recognizes several predefined movements. The analysis system first involves locating and separating the areas of the image associated with the hand, followed by the motion ...

Recognition of gestures in the context of speech

Object recognition supported by user interaction for service robots, 2003
The scope of this paper is the interpretation of a user's intention via a video camera and a speech recognizer In comparison to previous work which only takes into account gesture recognition, we demonstrate that by including speech, system comprehension increases.

Face Recognition and Gesture Recognition

2021
This chapter continues from the thought from Pablo Picasso. We humans are intrigued by our faces and faces of others, our smiles, our emotions, the different poses we make, and different expressions we have. Our mobile phones and cameras capture all of this.

Visual Recognition of Similar Gestures

18th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR'06), 2006
Naturalness and effectiveness of gesture-based communication strongly depend on the success of gesture recognition. However, confusion in classification increases when considering gestures with similar evolutions. Given that neither typical motion-based features, nor hidden Markov models are capable to distinguish accurately among them, it is common to
