Method for User Interface of Large Displays Using Arm Pointing and Finger Counting Gesture Recognition

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
Although many three-dimensional pointing gesture recognition methods have been proposed, the problem of self-occlusion has not been considered. Furthermore, because almost all pointing gesture recognition methods use a wide-angle camera, additional ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Learning Deep and Compact Models for Gesture Recognition

open access: yes, 2017
We look at the problem of developing a compact and accurate model for gesture recognition from videos in a deep-learning framework. Towards this we propose a joint 3DCNN-LSTM model that is end-to-end trainable and is shown to be better suited to capture ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Gesture recognition through angle space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
As the notion of ubiquitous computing becomes a reality, the keyboard and mouse paradigm become less satisfactory as an input modality. The ability to interpret gestures can open another dimension in the user interface technology.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

WiGAN: A WiFi Based Gesture Recognition System with GANs

open access: yesSensors, 2020
In recent years, a series of research experiments have been conducted on WiFi-based gesture recognition. However, current recognition systems are still facing the challenge of small samples and environmental dependence.
