Generic mixed columnar-plaquette phases in Rokhsar-Kivelson models

open access: yes, 2007
We revisit the phase diagram of Rokhsar-Kivelson models, which are used in fields such as superconductivity, frustrated magnetism, cold bosons, and the physics of Josephson junction arrays.

Auxiliary Field Diffusion Monte Carlo calculation of nuclei with A<40 with tensor interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We calculate the ground-state energy of 4He, 8He, 16O, and 40Ca using the auxiliary field diffusion Monte Carlo method in the fixed phase approximation and the Argonne v6' interaction which includes a tensor force.

Strong Electrostatic Control of Excitonic Features in MoS2 by a Free‐Standing Ultrahigh‐κ Ferroelectric Perovskite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 52, December 23, 2024.
This work demonstrates the electrostatic control of photoluminescence in monolayer MoS2 using free‐standing BaTiO3 (BTO) at room temperature. BTO enables highly tunable exciton emission with minimal gate voltage. It induces large peak emission shifts and tunable A trion binding energy.

An improved grid-forming control method with adaptive virtual impedance combining current limitation and transient stability improvement

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The virtual impedance (VI) control method is widely used to limit fault current for grid-forming converter (GFMC). However, in this article, it is found that the VI deteriorates the transient synchronization stability of the GFMC under grid faults.

Dispersion of a single hole in the t-J model

open access: yes, 1996
The dispersion of a single hole in the t-J model obtained by the exact result of 32 sites and the results obtained by self-consistent Born approximation and the Green function Monte Carlo method can be simply derived by a mean-field theory with d-RVB and

Realistic models of pion-exchange three-nucleon interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present realistic models of pion-exchange three-nucleon interactions obtained by fitting the energies of all the 17 bound or narrow states of 3

Quantum Monte Carlo calculations of weak transitions in $A\,$=$\,$6--10 nuclei

open access: yes, 2017
Ab initio calculations of the Gamow-Teller (GT) matrix elements in the $\beta$ decays of $^6$He and $^{10}$C and electron captures in $^7$Be are carried out using both variational and Green's function Monte Carlo wave functions obtained from the Argonne $

Microwave-Assisted Routes for the Synthesis of Complex Functional Oxides

open access: yesInorganics, 2015
The synthesis of complex functional inorganic materials, such as oxides, can be successfully performed by using microwave irradiation as the source of heat.

Finite-Size Scaling of the Ground State Parameters of the Two-Dimensional Heisenberg Model

open access: yes, 1997
The ground state parameters of the two-dimensional S=1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model are calculated using the Stochastic Series Expansion quantum Monte Carlo method for L*L lattices with L up to 16.

Climate Change, Wildfires and Fir Forests in Greece: Perceptions of Forest Managers

open access: yesSouth-East European Forestry, 2015
Background and Purpose: The potential impact that climate change may have on fire regime in ecosystems that are not fire-dependent emerges from fires that are nowadays spreading over higher altitudes and northern latitudes. The effects of fire occurrence
