Post-Fire Behavior of GFRP Bars and GFRP-RC Slabs

Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2018
AbstractTechnologies developed over the last two decades have introduced the use of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite bars as reinforcement in concrete structures when corrosion of th...

Failure Mode of GFRP Bar RC Beams Using GFRP Sheet as Shear Reinforcement

Materials Science Forum, 2023
The objectives of this study are to analyze the pattern crack and failure mode of the GFRP concrete beam by using GFRP sheet as shear reinforcement (GFB) compared with the two types of the conventional reinforced concrete beam (CB and GB). One of the conventional reinforced concrete beams is reinforced with the steel bar (CB) and the other is the GFRP ...

Flexural Behaviour of Concrete Beams Reinforced With GFRP Bars

Strain, 2010
Abstract:  The paper presents some of the results from a large experimental program undertaken at the Department of Civil Engineering of Salerno University. The static behaviour under service conditions of concrete beams reinforced with GFRP (Glass Fibre‐Reinforced Polymer) as well as CFRP (Carbon Fibre‐Reinforced Polymer) bars and stirrups is examined.

Durability of GFRP reinforcing bars in seawater concrete

Construction and Building Materials, 2021
Abstract This paper presents an experimental study that investigated the durability performance of unstressed glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars embedded in concrete mixed with seawater (seawater concrete). GFRP bars were extracted from concrete elements made with two different seawater concrete mix designs and exposed to different ...

Damping Analysis of GFRP Bars

2015
The main objective of this work is to contribute to a better understanding of the dynamic behavior of composite bars. In this work we propose an experimental modal analysis of Glass Fibers Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) bars. The objective is to characterize the damping properties of this material through vibration tests. It was found that these properties

Experimental investigations on bond performance of GFRP bars

i-manager’s Journal on Civil Engineering, 2023
Corrosion of steel is one of the major problems concerning construction field which becomes more severe when the structures are subjected to harsh environment which is harmful to structure as well as costs high for repair. Hence, deviating to alternate building materials is essential in upcoming years.

GFRP Bar Reinforced Concrete Bridge Deck: Stress in GFRP Bar under Ultimate Design Loads

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
In current ACI 440.1R-06 design guideline, an environmental reduction factor (ERF) is specified to account for long-term durability of GFRP bar used in reinforced concrete structures. Such ERF factor is still lack of confidence to concrete industry prior to deliberate calibrations with in-field real time data.

Response of GFRP bars at different temperatures

Materials Research Proceedings, 2023
Abstract. Owing to their numerous advantages, industries have been adopting fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars as reinforcement in concrete members due to their superior mechanical properties and high durability. More specifically, glass FRP (GFRP) bars have been increasingly adopted for use in harsh environmental conditions due to their excellent ...

Experimental study on bond strength of GFRP bars

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2020
Abstract Composite materials in the form of bars is good alternative to conventional steel due to their non corrosiveness. To work out effectiveness of GFRP bars as internal reinforcement in Civil Engineering structures, it is necessary to find its bond performance with concrete.

Curvilinear GFRP bars for tunnel segments applications

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2018
Abstract The possibility of adopting glass-fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite bars in tunnel segments as a substitute of the traditional steel reinforcement has been demonstrated. Nevertheless, this application requires a curvilinear shape for the reinforcement, and thus a different production process and rebar geometry.
