Genetic Parameter Estimation for Plasma Biomarkers Associated With Energy Reserves During Critical Physiological Stages in Sheep

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ability of ruminants to mobilise and restore body reserves (BR) over time, referred to as BR dynamics, is currently considered an interesting biological component to be included in breeding programs targeting enhanced BR resilience. However, genetic studies of proxies for BR levels and BRD remain scarce, particularly in small ruminants ...

Increased prey choice is associated with higher kleptoplastidic reliance in Mesodinium ciliates

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract Kleptoplastidic organisms display varying levels of reliance on stolen plastids, with some lineages evolving complex strategies for plastid (and other organelle) integration into metabolism. More complex methods of plastid integration typically coincide with greater prey specialization, but it remains unclear whether or how kleptoplastidic ...

Bayesian GGE biplot models applied to maize multi-environments trials

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2016
The additive main effects and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) and the genotype main effects and genotype x environment interaction (GGE) models stand out among the linear-bilinear models used in genotype x environment interaction studies. Despite the advantages of their use to describe genotype x environment (AMMI) or genotype and genotype x ...

Pathogenicity Patterns of Austrian Common Bunt Isolates on 42 Winter Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Lines

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In organic winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), common bunt (CB) caused by Tilletia caries and Tilletia laevis is one of the most serious diseases affecting grain yield and quality. Most cultivars are susceptible to CB, and even if a cultivar possesses resistance against a certain race, it may be susceptible to another one.

Cognitive Function in Genetic Generalized Epilepsies: Insights From Neuropsychology and Neuroimaging

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2020
Genetic generalized epilepsies (GGE), previously called idiopathic generalized epilepsies, constitute about 20% of all epilepsies, and include childhood absence epilepsy, juvenile absence epilepsy, juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, and epilepsy with ...

Regulating Autonomous Weapon Systems: Searching for African Solutions to Regional and Global Problems

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lethal autonomous weapon systems (LAWS), while offering strategic advantages in warfare, pose significant ethical, legal, and security risks, especially for countries in the Global South. This article examines how a philosophical perspective, rooted in African ethical and political thought, can enrich regional and global debates on regulating ...

Augmenting erythropoiesis using recombinant human erythropoietin at sea level blunts the high altitude induced increase in erythropoiesis

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Pharmacologically augmenting erythropoiesis with rEPO at sea level blunts the high altitude induced erythropoiesis. Abstract Erythropoiesis increases with high altitude (HA) acclimatization. Recombinant human erythropoietin (rEPO) induces erythropoiesis.

Detection of superior rice genotypes and yield stability using AMMI and MTSI models

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding
Multi-environment yield trials and multi-trait stability analyses are essential to identify the superior genotype. The aim of this research was to assess the adaptation and stability of rice genotypes using additive main effect and multiplicative ...

Evaluation of the yield stability of lentil genotypes by combining AMMI and BLUP techniques

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract This study evaluated the yield stability of 14 advanced lentil genotypes alongside two control cultivars (Kimia and Gachsaran) across three growing seasons (2013–2016) and three locations in Iran (Gachsaran, Ilam, and Khoramabad). A randomized complete block design with three replications was employed at each site.

Equilibration and GGE for hard wall boundary conditions

open access: yes, 2015
In this work we present an analysis of a quench for the repulsive Lieb-Liniger gas confined to a large box with hard wall boundary conditions. We study the time average of local correlation functions and show that both the quench action approach and the GGE formalism are applicable for the long time average of local correlation functions.
