Marine mammals are vulnerable to a variety of anthropogenic threats, yet a global systematic map of the literature for 19 species found both spatial and temporal disparity in research effort between threats and between species. There are knowledge gaps for species and threats, with effort unequal across many species' ranges.

High Ammonia and Low pH in the Urine of the Ghost Crab, Ocypode quadrata
Nitrogen excreted into the urine (100 mM were found in the urine of laboratory-held Ocypode quadrata, suggesting that this notion might not be applicable to all crustaceans. To address this issue, hemolymph and urine were removed from freshly captured O. quadrata and analyzed for nitrogenous catabolites and major ions. Hemolymph composition was similar

Ghost Crab Foraging on Waties Island
The ghost crab, Ocypode quadrata, is a common animal found on many beaches. They prey on mole crabs and coquina clams found in the swash zone. The purpose of this study is to determine whether ghost crabs are foraging optimally, getting their highest ...

The Twilight Activity of the Ghost Crab, Ocypode quadrata on Waties Island, S.C.
Early literature on the ghost crab, Ocypode quadrata, established that it was a nocturnal scavenger. However, studies conducted in the late 1970\u27s and early 1980\u27s show that the ghost crab fulfills a variety of ecological roles during the day and ...

Larval development of Ghost Crab Ocypode ceratophthalma (Pallas) under laboratory conditions [PDF]
In the semi-terrestrial crab family Ocypodidae, the ghost crab Ocypade cerataphtha/ma (Pallas) represents the sandy shore ecosystem. Of the eleven species of the genus Ocypade recorded from Indo-West Pacific region (Serene, 1968), the ghost crab O ...
