Analysis and Flaw Recognition Application of 70o Probe Echoes for Rail Flaw Detection Vehicles

open access: yesKongzhi Yu Xinxi Jishu
This paper delves into the impact of abnormal echoes at the rail head on flaw recognition resulting from the central 70° probes on rail flaw detection (RFD) vehicles.

A Systematic Study of GelMA‐Carbopol Bioinks for High‐Fidelity Extrusion 3D Bioprinting at Physiological Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gonzalez Martinez and collaborators develop a strategy to formulate high performance GelMA‐based bioinks with low solids contents. The resulting bioinks enable 3D bioprinting at 37 °C of high‐fidelity structures with tunable mechanical properties that support high cell viability and function.

The long-period Galactic Cepheid RS Puppis - III. A geometric distance from HST polarimetric imaging of its light echoes

open access: yes, 2014
As one of the most luminous Cepheids in the Milky Way, the 41.5-day RS Puppis is an analog of the long-period Cepheids used to measure extragalactic distances. An accurate distance to this star would therefore help anchor the zero-point of the bright end

Representation in Westminster in the 1990s : The ghost of Edmund Burke [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Why are 'trustee' notions of representation still invoked in the UK House of Commons in the 1990s? In answering this question this article analyses the premises of Burkean theory and the arguments that these premises are of little relevance in the late ...

Large‐Area 2D Metasurface‐Based Triboelectric E‐Skin Arrays: Contact & Proximity Tactile Mapping with Broadband Acoustic Readouts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface‐engineered NC‐TENG arrays integrate tactile pressure mapping, non‐contact gesture sensing, and acoustic signal readouts in one ultrathin module, and outperforms pristine PDMS in terms of electrical output and real‐time spatial mapping for next‐gen wearables.

Ghost-in-the-Machine Reveals Human Social Signals for Human-Robot Interaction

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
We used a new method called Ghost-in-the-Machine (GiM) to investigate social interactions with a robotic bartender taking orders for drinks and serving them. Using the GiM paradigm allowed us to identify how human participants recognise the intentions of

Ghost Songs : Echoes from Wounded Knee

open access: yesJournal de la Société des Américanistes, 1993
The Ghost Dance of the Lakota is irretrievably linked to the infamous Wounded Knee Massacre of 1890. An examination of the cultural elements comprising the philosophy practice of the ritual reveals a distinct form of religious worship that is undeniably Lakota.

Short‐Wavelength Infrared Imaging with Organic Photodetectors Based on Non‐Fullerene Acceptors with Detection above 1200 nm

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed organic photodetectors (OPDs) based on two novel low band gap non‐fullerene acceptors BZIC‐2F and BZIC‐2Cl, when blended with common polymer donor P3HT, extend detection range beyond 1200 nm with superior performance, rivaling costly inorganic sensors and past literature.

Improved Systemic Immunochemotherapy Employing an Oxaliplatin‐TLR7/8 Agonist Prodrug Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A platinum(IV) prodrug is developed to systemically deliver the TLR7/8 agonist gardiquimod. Tumor‐targeting is mediated by an albumin‐binding maleimide, which limits premature complex activation. Ox‐Gardi‐Mal accumulates specifically in the tumor, where it activates the immune system.

Organ‐Specific and Conserved Regulatory Logic Orchestrates Gene Expression in the Embryonic Mesothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrated multi‐omic profiling maps the gene‐regulatory landscape of the coelomic mesothelium across heart, lung, and pancreas. A cardiac‐restricted regulatory program is uncovered in which TBX20 activates heart mesothelial (epicardial) cis‐regulatory elements, while MAF emerges as a conserved regulator of mesothelial identity.
