``GIANT-CELL PNEUMONIA'' [PDF]

open access: greenArchives of Internal Medicine, 1913
REVIEW OF LITERATURE An attempt has been made recently to isolate from the general group of lobular pneumonias a form in which the histological picture shows the presence of large multinucleated cells in the alveoli, not tuberculous in nature, a form of pneumonia which frequently follows acute infectious diseases of childhood, more particularly ...

Structure and Evolution of Giant Cells in Global Models of Solar Convection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The global scales of solar convection are studied through three-dimensional simulations of compressible convection carried out in spherical shells of rotating fluid which extend from the base of the convection zone to within 15 Mm of the photosphere.

Genetic alterations in gliosarcoma and giant cell glioblastoma [PDF]

open access: yesBrain Pathology, 2015
The majority of glioblastomas develop rapidly with a short clinical history (primary glioblastoma IDH wild-type), whereas secondary glioblastomas progress from diffuse astrocytoma or anaplastic astrocytoma.

Planetary companions around the K giant stars 11 UMi and HD 32518 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
11 UMi and HD 32518 belong to a sample of 62 K giant stars that has been observed since February 2004 using the 2m Alfred Jensch telescope of the Th\"uringer Landessternwarte (TLS) to measure precise radial velocities (RVs). The aim of this survey is to investigate the dependence of planet formation on the mass of the host star by searching for ...

Collective motion and nonequilibrium cluster formation in colonies of gliding bacteria [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 108, 098102 (2012), 2013
We characterize cell motion in experiments and show that the transition to collective motion in colonies of gliding bacterial cells confined to a monolayer appears through the organization of cells into larger moving clusters. Collective motion by non-equilibrium cluster formation is detected for a critical cell packing fraction around 17%.

Giant Cell Tumour Around Knee Managed by Curettage and Zoledronic Acid with Structural Support by Fibula Cortical Struts [PDF]

open access: yesMalaysian Orthopaedic Journal, 2020
INTRODUCTION: Giant cell tumour (GCT) of the bone is a benign tumour with a high tendency to recur after surgery. This study aimed to analyse prospectively the rate of local recurrence following management of giant cell tumours by curettage, using ...

Giant cell arteritis [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Dental Journal, 2021
Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is the most common systemic vasculitis in the elderly. It is characterized by the involvement of the large vessels, predominantly the extracranial branches of the aorta. There is a close relationship with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR).
