Infection with the Neorickettsial Organism Stellantchasmus falcatus Agent in an Arctic Fox (Vulpes lagopus)

ABSTRACT A 1‐year‐old female‐intact arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) presented for diarrhea, lethargy, severe thrombocytopenia, and hyperbilirubinemia. Blood film evaluation revealed intracytoplasmic coccoid bacteria within moderate numbers of leukocytes consistent with infection by a rickettsial organism.

Giant cell reparative granuloma is an uncommon, benign but locally aggressive non-neoplastic lesion. Its occurrence is exclusive in the bones of the maxilla and mandible with rare cases reported in the temporal bone.

ABSTRACT Oral lesions may represent the first sign of an underlying systemic disease. Giant cell lesions in the oral cavity should prompt investigation for hyperparathyroidism, as early recognition of brown tumors allows appropriate systemic management and may lead to lesion regression after treatment of the endocrine disorder.

“Central giant cell granuloma” – An update

There are multiple lesions in the jawbones with a common histological character of the presence of osteoclast-like giant cells under one category - giant cell lesions. The central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is the most common of all and is found to be more prevalent in the Indian population.
