Micro‐Computed Tomography Based Whole Block Imaging of Asthma‐Associated Airway Remodeling With Mycobacterium avium‐Induced Cavity Formation: 3‐Dimensional Nondestructive Analysis

open access: yesPathology International, Volume 76, Issue 1, January 2026.
Subpleural cavities are characteristic of Mycobacterium avium infections, but the precise route of infection remains unclear. Using merged micro‐computed tomography of multiple formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) blocks (merged whole block imaging), we visualized a continuous airway path from the hilum to a subpleural cavity.

Asthma in Patients With Confirmed Pulmonary Sarcoidosis

open access: yesCanadian Respiratory Journal, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Pulmonary sarcoidosis and asthma can present identical symptoms, making clinical evaluation difficult if the two diseases overlap. Diagnostic challenges often lead to either overdiagnosis of asthma in patients with confirmed sarcoidosis or withholding appropriate asthma treatment.

A Fishy Situation: Hand Infection due to Mycobacterium marinum Mistaken for Giant Cell Tumor

open access: yesCase Reports in Infectious Diseases, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Mycobacterium marinum is an acid‐fast bacterium (AFB) associated with exposure to water and aquatic species. When inoculated, infection can result in nodular cutaneous lesions. In the absence of detailed history or culture data, these nodular skin lesions can be mistaken for noninfectious orthopedic conditions. We present a case of M.

Pyoderma Gangrenosum as the First Manifestation of Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastrointestinal Medicine, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Approximately 50% of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) exhibit extraintestinal manifestations, among which skin and mucosal lesions are common. However, pyoderma gangrenosum occurs in only 1%‐2% of IBD patients. We report the case of a 23‐year‐old male patient who was admitted to the hospital with pyoderma gangrenosum that was unresponsive

Isolated Gallbladder Tuberculosis Mimicking Chronic Cholecystitis: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Hepatology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Isolated gallbladder tuberculosis (GBTB) is a rare disease, even in endemic areas, and is often misdiagnosed due to its nonspecific clinical and imaging findings. Histopathological evaluation, demonstrating granulomatous inflammation with caseous necrosis, remains the only definitive method of diagnosis.
