Usefulness of immunosuppression for giant cell myocarditis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Giant cell myocarditis (GCM) is a rare and highly lethal disorder. The only multicenter case series with treatment data lacked cardiac function assessments and had a retrospective design. We conducted a prospective, multicenter study of immunosuppression

Adaptive Network Stabilization Despite Profound Structural Reorganization in Human Organotypic Cultures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Adult human organotypic cortical slices undergo marked neuronal loss, laminar disruption, and glial activation, yet their network activity progressively stabilizes after a variable period. Electrophysiology, longitudinal calcium imaging, and quantitative histology show that structurally remodeled human circuits show adaptive capacity resulting in ...

Giant Cell Tumor of Bone: An Update.

open access: yes, 2021
PURPOSE OF REVIEW: To highlight the new developments in the management of advanced giant cell tumor of bone, a rare locally aggressive benign tumor, which was traditionally managed with surgery alone by either curettage and local adjuvant therapy, wide ...

Lactylation‐Driven PROS1‐TYRO3‐CARF Signaling Promotes Therapy‐Induced Senescence Escape and Radioresistance in Meningioma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A glycolysis‐driven epigenetic switch promotes therapy resistance in meningioma. Increased lactate production enhances histone H3K27 lactylation, which activates PROS1 secretion. Secreted PROS1 engages TYRO3 signaling to degrade the senescence regulator CARF, allowing cancer cells to escape growth arrest.

Comparative analysis of TP53 gene in Tupaia belangeri subspecies (Tupaia belangeri yaoshanensis vs. Tupaia belangeri chinensis) and identification of mutations in spontaneous tumor cases

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study provides the first evidence of natural TP53 variation between tree shrew subspecies and identifies somatic TP53 mutations in spontaneous tree shrew sarcomas. The high structural and functional conservation of tree shrew p53 with humans supports its utility as a relevant model for TP53‐related cancer research.

Giant Cell Tumor of Rib Arising Anteriorly as a Large Inframammary Mass: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2012
Introduction. Giant cell tumor of the bone is a rare benign lesion that infrequently affects the ribs, and if present, is usually located posteriorly. The rarity of this tumor poses diagnostic and therapeutic problems for physicians, especially when it ...

Association of Clonal Hematopoiesis With Incident, Late‐Onset, Seropositive Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Clonal hematopoiesis (CH), defined by acquired driver mutations in hematopoietic stem cells, is associated with many inflammatory diseases of aging. We investigated whether CH and its subtypes, CH of indeterminate potential (CHIP) and mosaic chromosomal alteration (mCA), are associated with incident rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and whether ...
