Biopolymer Membranes for Osmotic Power Generation in Bionic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of biopolymer‐based osmotic power generation for bionic applications. It uniquely bridges biopolymer membranes, reverse electrodialysis(RED), and bionic applications, addressing a critical research gap by integrating biopolymer membranes with RED technologies for biomedical use.

Bright LaF3:Eu@Ir Phosphors Combining Two‐Photon Excitation, d → f Energy Transfer and Tunable Time‐Gated Chromaticity for Multicolor Cell Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
The surface functionalization of Eu‐doped LaF3 particles with a two‐photon absorbing IrIII complex results in the formation of ultrabright Eu:LaF3 phosphors, which exhibit a combination of short‐lived IrIII and long‐lived EuIII‐sensitized emissions. These Ir/Eu hybrids are effectively internalized by HEK‐293 cells without causing toxic effects, thereby

Toward Wireless Implantable Robotic Systems Driven by Magnetic Field for Personalized Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robotic materials are playing an increasingly vital role in enabling sensing and actuation at small scales. This perspective highlights recent advances in magnetic materials and magnetically actuated devices for wireless sensing, actuation, and energy harvesting toward implantable robotic systems for closed‐loop therapy.

A Rare Giant Pleural Thymoma in Posterior Mediastinum. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Thymoma is an epithelial neoplasm of the thymus, which commonly lies in the anterior mediastinum. Unusually, thymomas can also be found in other locations. Surgical excision, when feasible, appears to provide good results. We encountered a rare case of a

The role of macrophages and giant cells in loosening of joint replacement. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Macrophages and foreign-body giant cells from the bone-cement interface of loosened joint replacement were assayed for direct bone resorption in an in vitro experimental model.

Activation of HTR2B Suppresses Osteosarcoma Progression through the STAT1‐NLRP3 Inflammasome Pathway and Promotes OASL1+ Macrophage Production to Enhance Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Activation of HTR2B suppresses osteosarcoma progression through the STAT1‐NLRP3 inflammasome pathway and promotes OASL1+ Macrophage production to enhance anti‐tumor immunity. Abstract Osteosarcoma is a primary malignant bone tumor originating from mesenchymal tissue, and associated with poor prognosis.

Distinct nonrandom patterns of chromosomal deletions in giant-cell lesions of bone

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2002
Cytogenetic analyses were performed on a bone giant cell reparative granuloma (GCRG) and on three bone giant cell tumors (GCT). The present GCRG case is the second to be described cytogenetically.

Intralesional nerve-sparing surgery versus non-surgical treatment for giant cell tumor of the sacrum

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2021
Background There is no standard treatment for giant cell tumors of the sacrum. We compared the outcomes and complications in patients with sacral giant cell tumors who underwent intralesional nerve-sparing surgery with or without (neo-) adjuvant ...

Ubiquitination‐Dependent LLGL2 Degradation Drives Colorectal Cancer Progression via THBS3 mRNA Stabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During the progression of CRC, MDM2, as an E3 ubiquitin ligase, promotes the degradation of the LLGL2 protein. Reduced expression of the LLGL2 protein leads to the loss of support for the CNOT1 protein, decreasing the degradation of THBS3 mRNA. The increased THBS3 further activates the PI3K‐Akt pathway, promoting the proliferation and metastasis of CRC.

Tenosynovial giant cell tumor presenting as a parotid gland mass: Expanding the differential diagnosis of giant cell-rich lesions in salivary glands

open access: yesJournal of Cytology, 2014
Tenosynovial giant cell tumors (TGCT) are rare benign soft tissue tumors affecting mostly young adults. The most common affected sites include the knee, ankle, elbow, shoulder, and fingers. The temporomandibular joint is occasionally affected. Herein, we
