The ingestion of giant freshwater prawn, Chinese prawn and giant tiger prawn had continuity and the ingestion high peak occurred at night. Light and temperature had significant effects on the daily ingestion rate (DIR) of giant freshwater prawnMacrobrachium rosenbergii. Red light and blue light favorably induced favorable ingestion.

Characterization of a gC1qR from the giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii

gC1qR, as a multicompartmental and a multifunctional protein, plays an important role in innate immunity. In this study, a gC1qR homolog (MrgC1qR) in the giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii was identified. MrgC1qR, a 258-amino-acid polypeptide, shares high identities with gC1qR from other species.

Oxytetracycline Residues in Giant Freshwater Prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii)

The distribution of oxytetracycline (OTC) in male and female Macrobrachium rosenbergii was examined after the prawns had been given medicated feed containing OTC at levels of 2.5 and 5.0 g/kg of feed for 1 week and nonmedicated feed thereafter. OTC levels in the heads of both male and female prawns were consistently higher than in the muscles.

Abstract Juvenile M. rosenbergii of three sizes were stocked in a reservoir, using net pens of two sizes and varying the stocking density. Prawns of 3.94 cm length at stocking grew faster than 11.24-cm prawns, matured in 9 months and showed at least 22% survival, an economically justifiable level.

We used histological and electroretinogram methods to investigate eye structure and function in Macrobrachium rosenbergii. M. rosenbergii was demonstrated to have superposition compound eyes with a clear zone. Rhabdom volume dramatically increased only under dark-adapted conditions at night.
