Giant magnetoimpedance effect enhanced by thermoplastic drawing

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2014
We performed thermoplastic forming (TPF) on FeCoNbB metallic glass ribbons with a supercooled liquid region exceeding 100 K, and found the sample after TPF is still completely amorphous. More importantly, the giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect was improved after the forming process: the maximum GMI ratio and sensitivity increased from 41% to 12.3%/Oe ...

Optimized giant magnetoimpedance effect in amorphous and nanocrystalline materials

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2006
This letter reports the giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect and its magnetic response in optimized Co70Fe5Si15Nb2.2Cu0.8B7 amorphous and Fe71Al2Si14B8.5Cu1Nb3.5 nanocrystalline ribbons. At a given frequency of 5 MHz, the largest GMI ratios of 513% and 640% were observed for the Co-based amorphous and Fe-based nanocrystalline samples, respectively. More

Magnetic field meter based on giant magnetoimpedance effect

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2008
The giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect in Co-based amorphous ribbon was investigated. In order to improve the properties of its magnetoimpedance characteristics, with respect to their application as a sensing element, the ribbon samples were subjected to various thermal and mechanical treatments.

Giant magnetoimpedance effect in Ag/NiFe plated wire

Materials Science and Engineering B: Solid-State Materials for Advanced Technology, 2004
Abstract In the present work, the giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect of Ag/NiFe plated wire was investigated at room temperature. The value of the magnetoimpedance (Z(H)−Z(0))/Z(0) under H=90 Oe can reach about 40% at 50 kHz. With the increase of the field the magnetoimpedance (Z(H)−Z(0))/Z(0) reaches a peak. The peak-field HP increases firstly with
