Some Studies on Giant Radio Galaxies
1987Giant Radio Galaxies, of diameters D of a few megaparsec (defined here as D ≳1.5 Mpc; HO =50 km/sec Mpc; qO =0), form only a small fraction (2–3%) of the sources in metre wavelength samples (3C,6C). We study such sources because they offer a much higher linear resolution for the same distance and also because they could represent radio galaxies under ...

Magnetic fields and radio jets in giant radio galaxies
Astrophysics, 1995The study of giant radio galaxies by the scintillation method [1-4] at 102 MHz enables us to estimate the strength of the magnetic field and also the density of relativistic electrons in compact radio sources. Using the formula 0 = 4.3'1016S1/2~-5/4H±1/4(1 + z) I/4 [5] the strength of the magnetic field H± is estimated, where 0 is the angular size of ...

Radio studies of giant radio galaxy 3C 236 at 326.5MHz
Chinese Astronomy and Astrophysics, 1990Abstract Radio observations at 326.5MHz of the radio galaxy 3C 236 were made using the 4 km Ooty aperture synthesis radio telescope. A radio map is presented here, together with a simple analysis and discussion, and some preliminary results.

The superluminal giant radio galaxy 1144+35
2006We present new VLBI data of the core of the giant radio galaxy 1144+35. New results confirm the detection of proper motion in the jet and counter-jet structures. Based on these new measurements, we derive the intrinsic jet velocity and orientation, estimate the epoch of the restarted activity, and correlate the source structure with the arcsecond core ...
