EXPLORING HALO SUBSTRUCTURE WITH GIANT STARS: SUBSTRUCTURE IN THE LOCAL HALO AS SEEN IN THE GRID GIANT STAR SURVEY INCLUDING EXTENDED TIDAL DEBRIS FROM ωCENTAURI [PDF]
We present the latitude–normalized radial velocity (vb) distribution of 3318 subsolar metallicity, V ≲ 13.5 stars from the Grid Giant Star Survey (GGSS) in southern hemisphere fields.

An environmentally friendly transfer printing method of nm‐thick giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensors is demonstrated. This method, relying on water and biocompatible polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer without the need of complex treatments, allows transferring thin films to a wide range of biological, organic, and inorganic substrates.

Discovery of a Metal-poor Red Giant Star with the Highest Ultralithium Enhancement
We present the discovery of 2MASS J05241392−0336543 (hereafter J0524−0336), a very metal-poor ([Fe/H] = −2.43 ± 0.16), highly r -process-enhanced ([Eu/Fe] = +1.34 ± 0.10) Milky Way halo field red giant star, with an ultrahigh Li abundance of A (Li, 3D ...

Synthetic cells are engineered herein to respond to an external chemical messenger by the activation of intracellular catalysis. The chemical messenger molecules are catalytically generated by an extracellular enzyme or a mineral surface, whereas the intracellular catalysis emerges via direct enzyme activation or via protein refolding.

Probable detection of starlight reflected from the giant exoplanet orbiting tau Bootis
Giant planets orbiting stars other than the Sun are clearly detectable through precise radial-velocity measurements of the orbital reflex motion of the parent star.

Eco‐friendly nanowave‐textured implants produced via femtosecond laser fabrication enhance bone regeneration by orchestrating a precise mechanotransduction cascade. This nanotopography directs mesenchymal stem cell alignment and cytoskeletal organization, triggering changes in nuclear shape and chromatin acetylation that prime cells for osteogenesis ...

A Jupiter-mass planet around the K0 giant HD 208897
For over 10 years, we have carried out a precise radial velocity (RV) survey to find substellar companions around evolved G,K-type stars to extend our knowledge of planet formation and evolution.

MXene dervied CoFe composites show increased initial Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) activity compared to the pure CoFe and MXene in an Anion Exchange Membrane device. Vanadium vacancies in the MXene plays a role in increased OER activity and hinders Fe leaching in the AEM device over using the pure V2C MXene as a support material for the CoFe ...

Differential Compartmentalization of Enzymatic Reactions for Lactate Signaling Across Protocells
Two populations of protocells consisting of giant unilamellar vesicles containing active species and distinct artificial organelles are competent of collective behavior by mimicking production, intercellular communication, and detection of the bioinspired signal molecule lactate. Enzymatic cascade reactions within artificial organelles demonstrate that
