Investigation of infection of intestinal parasites Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia lamblia among patients which attending of the Health Centers of Gharraf City / Thi- Qar province

open access: yesمجلة علوم ذي قار, 2019
The intestinal parasites of Entamoeba hstolytica and Giardia lamblia are among the major causes of diarrhea throughout the world. The current study was conducted from October 2015 to February 2016 to investigate the spread of intestinal parasites ...

Parasitic Infections and Associated Cognitive Outcome Among School‐Aged Children in Africa: A Systematic Review

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Parasitic infections like schistosomiasis, soil‐transmitted helminths, and malaria can impair nutrient absorption, oxygen supply, and brain function, leading to memory deficits, attention deficits, reduced intelligence quotient, weak academic performance, and motor or executive deficits.

The return of metabolism: biochemistry and physiology of glycolysis

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 2, Page 751-803, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Glycolysis is a fundamental metabolic pathway central to the bioenergetics and physiology of virtually all living organisms. In this comprehensive review, we explore the intricate biochemical principles and evolutionary origins of glycolytic pathways, from the classical Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas (EMP) pathway in humans to various prokaryotic and ...

Detection of anti-Giardia lamblia serum antibody among children of day care centers Detecção de anticorpos séricos anti-Giardia lamblia em crianças de creches

open access: yesRevista de Saúde Pública, 2002
OBJETIVES: To detect anti-Giardia lamblia serum antibodies in healthy children attending public day care centers and to assess serological tests as tools for estimating the prevalence of G. lamblia in endemic areas.

Resurrecting the Activity of the RNA Subunit of Human RNase P

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
The catalytic RNA (H1 RNA) of the human nuclear tRNA processing enzyme RNase P has >105‐fold lower activity in the absence of its 11 protein cofactors than bacterial RNase P RNAs. By introducing mutations toward the bacterial consensus into its catalytic domain, a two and fivefold activity enhancement could be achieved by changes in the P4‐19/4 region ...

Identification of human intestinal parasites affecting an asymptomatic peri-urban Argentinian population using multi-parallel quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: In resource-limited countries, stool microscopy is the diagnostic test of choice for intestinal parasites (soil-transmitted helminths and/or intestinal protozoa). However, sensitivity and specificity is low.

Declining Trends in Gastrointestinal Parasitic Infections Among Nepalese School Children: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis (2004–2022)

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
This meta‐analysis of 25 studies (17,628 children) shows a substantial decline in gastrointestinal parasitic infections in Nepal from 43.4% to 24.2% between 2004 and 2022. Helminths (20.0%) remained more common than protozoa (9.9%), with slightly higher prevalence in urban (29.0%) than rural areas (27.9%). ABSTRACT Background Gastrointestinal parasitic

Вивчення мікробіоти кишечника й дуоденального вмісту у хворих на лямбліоз із супутніми алергічними захворюваннями шкіри

open access: yesAnnals of Mechnikov's Institute
Background. Giardia lamblia can be an etiological factor of allergic skin diseases. In the human body, giardia create parasitocenosis. Giardia’s colonization of the intestine causes dysbiosis throughout the gut that persists during infection, in turn ...

Evolutionary divergence and functional insights into the heteromeric cis‐prenyltransferase of Paramecium tetraurelia

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 6, Page 1681-1707, March 2026.
Heteromeric cis‐prenyltransferases (CPT) are indispensable for dolichol synthesis and protein N‐glycosylation in most eukaryotes. The catalytic subunits are strongly conserved throughout evolution, in contrast to the evolutionarily variable accessory subunits. The POC1 protein from Paramecium tetraurelia is the smallest identified CPT‐accessory subunit
