家畜に対して中毒作用を与える変敗飼料から分離され,且その中毒の因をなすと考えられるGibberelta fujikuroiの振盪培養濾液からマロン酸を分離した.このものはマウスに対しM.L.D.50 1.5mg/10g体重の毒性を有することからマロン酸は本菌の生産する毒成分の一つであると考えられる.
