Performance of Alternative BVAR Models for Forecasting Iranian Macroeconomic Variables: An Application of Gibbs Sampling [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه پژوهش‌های اقتصادی ایران, 2015
Low and stable inflation with sustainable growth is the first objective of any monetary authority. To achieve this prime goal, reliable forecast of macroeconomic variables play an important role.

Gibbs-Non-Gibbs Transitions via Large Deviations: Computable Examples [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Physics, 2012
We give new and explicitly computable examples of Gibbs-non-Gibbs transitions of mean-field type, using the large deviation approach introduced in [4]. These examples include Brownian motion with small variance and related diffusion processes, such as the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process, as well as birth and death processes.

Nonexistence of random gradient Gibbs measures in continuous interface models in $d=2$ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We consider statistical mechanics models of continuous spins in a disordered environment. These models have a natural interpretation as effective interface models.

From Steam Engines to Chemical Reactions: Gibbs’ Contribution to the Extension of the Second Law

open access: yesEntropy, 2016
The present work analyzes the foundations of Gibbs’ thermodynamic equilibrium theory, with the general aim of understanding how the Second Law—as formulated by Clausius in 1865—has been embodied into Gibbs’ formal system and extended to processes ...

Boltzmann-Gibbs thermal equilibrium distribution for classical systems and Newton law: A computational discussion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We implement a general numerical calculation that allows for a direct comparison between nonlinear Hamiltonian dynamics and the Boltzmann-Gibbs canonical distribution in Gibbs $\Gamma$-space. Using paradigmatic first-neighbor models, namely, the inertial

Identifying Affordable Housing Shortage: A Study for Oklahoma

open access: yesUrban Planning
The study provides an analysis of affordable housing in Oklahoma, US. Like the rest of the country, the state’s housing stock does not meet the affordable housing demand, especially for low-income households.

Joint Transcriptomic Analysis of Lung Cancer and Other Lung Diseases

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2019
Background: Epidemiological and clinical evidence points cancer comorbidity with pulmonary chronic disease. The acquisition of some hallmarks of cancer by cells affected with lung pathologies as a cell adaptive mechanism to a shear stress, suggests that ...

Adsorption of terbium ion on Fc/dymethylacrylamide: application of Monte Carlo simulation

open access: yesPolímeros
The crosslinking of the Fc fragment (IgG antibody) on a polymer matrix about of dimethylacrylamide (DMA), melamide group (MG) and n-acryloxy succinimide (NAS) was analyzed through Monte Carlo simulation at 277.15K and pH 7, in where Gibs free energy and ...

Herded Gibbs Sampling

open access: yesJournal of Machine Learning Research, 2013
The Gibbs sampler is one of the most popular algorithms for inference in statistical models. In this paper, we introduce a herding variant of this algorithm, called herded Gibbs, that is entirely deterministic. We prove that herded Gibbs has an $O(1/T)$ convergence rate for models with independent variables and for fully connected probabilistic ...

Improving transparency in data access processes: Developing best practice standards and promoting system-wide change through a competitive funding call

open access: yesInternational Journal of Population Data Science
Introduction Transparency in the use of data for research benefits the public and researchers by fostering trust and enabling efficient data sharing. Public support for access to their data for research depends on robust data security, the absence of ...
