Validation of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Forensic Soils Investigation in Brazil

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo
Soil traces are useful as forensic evidence due to their potential to transfer and adhere to different types of surfaces on a range of objects or persons. Several works have been developed in forensic soils, under different analytical approaches. However,

Sedimentation and Phase Transitions of Colloidal Gibbsite Platelets

open access: yesLangmuir, 2005
We study the competition between sedimentation, gelation, and liquid crystal formation in suspensions of colloidal gibbsite platelets of five different sizes at three ionic strengths. For large particles (with diameters of 350, 420, and 570 nm) sedimentation is initially the most important factor determining the macroscopic behavior.

Adsorção e dessorção aniônicas individuais por gibbsita pedogenética Individual anionic adsorption and desorption by pedogenic gibbsite

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2009
Anion adsorption/desorption dynamics was studied as individual processes on surface of particles of a gibbsitic clay. The data suggest a remarkable gibbsite role as nitrate leaching retardant in soil.

Clay Mineralogy of Red Clay Deposits from the Central Carpathian Basin (Hungary): Implications for Plio/Pleistocene Chemical Weathering and Paleoclimate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Geochemical and mineralogical studies of palaeosols provide essential information for palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental interpretation of continental deposits and can present a proxy for palaeoclimate.

Chemical composition of the humus layer, mineral soil and soil solution of 150 forest stands in the Netherlands in 1990 [PDF]

open access: yes
A nationwide assessment of the chemical composition of the humus layer, mineral topsoil (0-30 cm) and soil solution in both topsoil and subsoil (60-100 cm) was made for 150 forest stands in the year 1990.

The Effect of Dissolved Water on the Tribological Properties of Polyalkylene Glycol and Polyolester Oils [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The effect of water dissolved in polyalkylene glycol and polyolester oils on the tribological behavior of two material contact pairs in three test environments is evaluated.

Stop 2 Kainui silt loam and Naike clay, Gordonton Rd [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
At this stop are several remarkable features both stratigraphic and pedological, and a “two-storied” soil, the Kainui silt loam alongside (in just a few places) the Naike clay. Both soils are Ultisols. The sequence of tephra beds and buried soil horizons
