Sedimentation and Phase Transitions of Colloidal Gibbsite Platelets

open access: yesLangmuir, 2005
We study the competition between sedimentation, gelation, and liquid crystal formation in suspensions of colloidal gibbsite platelets of five different sizes at three ionic strengths. For large particles (with diameters of 350, 420, and 570 nm) sedimentation is initially the most important factor determining the macroscopic behavior.

Chemistry of the system: Al2O3(c)minus HCL aqueous [PDF]

open access: yes
In order to study exhaust gas chemistry for the space shuttle, the vapor pressure of 2 to 1 weight mixtures of 3-M hydrochloric acid and Al2O3 was studied over a l80 minute reaction period at 31 C.

Adsorção e dessorção aniônicas individuais por gibbsita pedogenética Individual anionic adsorption and desorption by pedogenic gibbsite

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2009
Anion adsorption/desorption dynamics was studied as individual processes on surface of particles of a gibbsitic clay. The data suggest a remarkable gibbsite role as nitrate leaching retardant in soil.

Chemical composition of the humus layer, mineral soil and soil solution of 150 forest stands in the Netherlands in 1990 [PDF]

open access: yes
A nationwide assessment of the chemical composition of the humus layer, mineral topsoil (0-30 cm) and soil solution in both topsoil and subsoil (60-100 cm) was made for 150 forest stands in the year 1990.

Effects of Al substitution on goethite formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Goethites containing up to 32.7 mole % Al were synthesized and characterized through diffractometry, spectrometry, DSC and chemical techniques. Results indicate that crystal growth was favoured or hindered depending on the percentage of aluminum ...

INFLUENCE OF GRAIN AND CRYSTALLITE SIZE ON THE GIBBSITE TO BOEHMITE THERMAL TRANSFORMATION

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai Chemia, 2015
Thermal decomposition processes of three different samples of hydrated alumina: Bayer precipitated size fractioned, Bayer precipitated ground and fine precipitated, were studied.

Stop 2 Kainui silt loam and Naike clay, Gordonton Rd [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
At this stop are several remarkable features both stratigraphic and pedological, and a “two-storied” soil, the Kainui silt loam alongside (in just a few places) the Naike clay. Both soils are Ultisols. The sequence of tephra beds and buried soil horizons

Clay mineralogy of tephras and associated paleosols and soils, and hydrothermal deposits, North Island [New Zealand] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Tour themes and itinerary The tour centres on the occurrence and genesis of clay minerals, especially allophane, halloysite, and ferrihydrite, associated with both Quaternary rhyolitic airfall tephra (volcanic ash) deposits and volcanogenic alluvium ...
